My grad school is having an alumni reception in SF, and I've signed up for it, mostly because I want to network just in case the perfect job just wants to fall into my lap. I've actually never been to an alum event, much less on the other side of the country from where I am. That's why I wonder what the crowd will be like - whereas similar events I attended in DC were people my age or a little older, in SF it's a crowd of retirement age.

it's that damn construction!!
i gotta write an update about that. except i'm afraid all it would contain at this point would be curse words...
we're actually meeting the mayor tomorrow -- will be complaining about their approval process.
