I have been referring to this project as my "SNSD pimp post" and I guess it is... technically that. But to be honest it's more like my excuse to write meta-y odes to the various SNSD members. Ahh okay I know you said you were less sure about the older girls' sections but I actually realllllllllllly love Sunny's! I HAVE MORPHED INTO A SUNNY STAN IDK, it's so weird because she used to be bottom three and now she is RIGHT UP THERE. Although lol I stan all of them, like I can ever actually rank them. BUT YES. Also I never noticed that Yoona keeps her family life really private but yeah I think she's the only one who I've never heard her even really talk about her family? With all of the other ones you at least know a basic story, some more than others (omg when Seobb's mom went on that one show ;___;) but...I don't know anything about Yoona's family except that she went on vacation with them to Europe. Idk much about Sunny either but I saw a family picture of her on tumblr a few days ago, it was adorbs ( ... )

I AM GLAD, and lol yes I have noticed you turning into more and more of a Sunny stan! I was thinking about that as I wrote hers, how she used to be in my bottom three. Actually ironically I think my bottom three when I was still able to declare such things was the eldest three, GOD THAT MAKES ME FEEL WEIRD AND ICKY, PICKING FAVORITES IN SNSD IS SO WRONG TO ME NOW. But god DO NOT REMIND ME OF SEOBB'S MOM, oh my god I honestly haven't watched that since the first time, even though I would probably appreciate it more now. I just. Do not have that much strength. She is #7! (Taeyeon was #9, your second choice, BUT YOU PROBABLY ALREADY FIGURED THAT OUT, it seems like you are better at this than I was in the beginning, oh man it took me SO LONG to get them all straight.)

It's not like, a budget per se, they are not restricted by it, but since they all live together in a dorm/are watched over by managers the overall expenses of their eating is pretty easy to tabulate. But you are right, it is really different. To me the most fascinating difference is that because there's a training process, they almost eliminate the concept of a "big break"? Like, you have to audition into a company, but if you are genuinely talented and beautiful (and lol plastic surgery is much more common/accepted in South Korea, so, NOT EVEN COMPLETELY NECESSARY), you have a pretty good chance of being accepted into a company and achieving fame. I think that's why you see a lot of foreign (asian) people in the korean industry, not as much in SNSD but there are Chinese and Thai people in some of the other groups ( ... )

It sounds like Making the Band or some reality show, except that it's not a reality show, it's actually how they live. Also, I think you give me too much credit, I most definitely cannot tell them all apart at all.

Oh god I used to love Making the Band, IT'S SO OBVIOUS WHY THIS HAPPENED TO ME. But yeah it is weird, especially since it's not just them, it's all the other... idk, twenty? Thirty? idol bands.

I WAS JUST IMPRESSED BY YOUR DEDUCTION THAT THAT WAS YOONA, I suppose. But it is hard. There are a lot of them.

oh my god, I don't even know how to respond to this post because it's so overwhelming, your love for them and how genuinely you CARE for them. Basically I was reading everything with HEARTS IN MY EYES, it is so beautiful. I FELT LIKE I SHOULD HAVE MADE NOTES WHILE I WAS READING THIS because I had questions! But now I forgot them so I'll go back again. Oh wait, here's one - boybands decided they hate SNSD? also, Seohyun as Hermione is THE GREATEST. ugh sorry this is such a lame comment for such a great post, I will try to properly convey it later. and I will probably need to actually...update my journal now just so I could pimp this out to my flist.

OH THAT SENTENCE IS WEIRD, I'll change it, what I meant was not the boybands themselves but their fans. In the beginning STAND was mostly DBSK/Suju fans, because Tiffany made awkward comments about those two bands specifically. BUT TY SO MUCH, I AM SO GLAD YOU LIKED IT!!!

OKAY SO I was compiling a response to this last night before I went to bed and I was like, THIS IS A GOOD COMMENT. Of course, then I woke up and forgot what I was going to say. That happens to me way too often.

ANYWAY. Well, we already kind of discussed "Kissing You" and I never thought about how "Gee" REALLY propelled them. That is a good point. I mean, they were popular before but then they became POPULAR. It will be really interesting to see if they will hit Europe or America, idk how I feel about that!! I seriously eyeheart all of this post. I second the comment above it almost doesn't seem real, that you can know all these people so well and all these interests and personality traits SO COMPLETELY, it is really incredible! The amount they give or show and their ability to make you feel like you CAN be friends or whatever is something else. No wonder why the relationship between kpop idols and fans is so....idk, I want to say UNHEALTHY but not that's exactly it. I didn't know most of this though and I'm really glad I got to hear ( ... )

Thank you for this! I've been trying to get into K-Pop but the only band I've really listened to so far is Brown Eyed Girls. I'll be sure to check this one out.
