ITA. I was actually very annoyed with Chuck when he kept being all FEELINGS FEELINGS FEELINGS, like argh, SHUT UP TALK LATER! It was practically embarrassing. That said, this will put an interesting twist on their dynamic, so, we'll see. I was underwhelmed by the premiere, but I'm optimistic! Bring it on!

IT WAS EMBARRASSING. Wandering into the Castle with cheese puffs, a robe, and a loser beard? WHAT WAS THAT EVEN SUPPOSED TO ACCOMPLISH, HAD SHE BEEN THERE? And every time he talked to her it was like STOP IT YOU'RE KIND OF BEING AN ASSHOLE. Goooood, Bartowski. Take a step back. Just for a little while.

But yeah-- it's not like the premiere was the best part of last season either! I was also underwhelmed, but I'm still excited for what is to come.

CAN I PLEASE CO-SIGN YOUR LETTERS?

IDK, I could attempt to psychoanalyze Chuck's behavior and rationalize it with the whole he was abandoned as a child thing, but maybe that's over-thinking it and he's just overwhelmed. Or maybe he's just not really used to the set up and needs some time to adjust. I should do the analyzing later though, after we see tomorrow night's episode, aaaand after I have slept some.

Your 8am class is of the science variety, isn't it? ;)

Hahaha, I was so immediately TEAM SARAH WALKER I didn't even think about that! You are probably right. I hope he changes. Him being a dick is different in a way that is totally stressing me out. AND MAN YOU'RE RIGHT TOMORROW! Wow, talk about instant gratification, I keep forgetting we get that.

It actually isn't, for once! I had to change my schedule at the last minute and ALL THE SCIENCE COURSES WERE FULL. I'm going to be so liberal artsy this semester, it's... going to be weird, actually.

I think part of my problem with tonight's episode was the fact that it had such a huge build-up and there were so many expectations.

I'm excited to see how things progress because I think things are definitely getting interesting. But for now, I just want to give Sarah Walker a hug. Is that weird?

Yay for another chance tomorrow night!

IT'S NOT WEIRD SHE TOTALLY NEEDS A HUG.

But yeah, expectations. I think it's hard to follow up a run like they were having at the end of season 2 -- so yeah, I feel for them -- but I'm also disappointed by the direction they've chosen for this season. The end of season 2 was so good because they took risks and screwed with their formula in every single episode, and... it just seems like they're very determined to take things back to the formula in these couple of episodes. But idk, I'm sure they've got something up their sleeve.

Agreed on how Chuck was acting. I also think him turning her down might have had something to do with the reality of that situation. If Sarah ran away with him, would she be happy in three years time? Being a spy is all she knows, all she's good at. Giving that all up could have major consequences for her, feeling restless and having to hide and all that. Chuck wouldn't have been able to see his family again either. His explanation didn't quite come off like that though, which is really the thing that bothered me the most.

HOWEVER. I liked the episodes a lot, and the the swap in perspective re: who is pining after who is really cool. Sarah's feelings have always been shoved so far down we hardly ever outright saw them, but they are so fresh and angsty now and gah I will really like seeing this dynamic from her pov. I have much hope for the rest of the season! At least mega angst = awesome stuff when they finally give in to each other.

Interesting! I think you are probably right about that, and tbh that jives better with Chuck's previous characterization to me than "I JUST 1000% WANT TO BE A REAL SPY AND HELP PEOPLE, SARAH". Although there is some part of me that doesn't even CARE, just so long as he stops acting like a douchecanoe ASAP.

Yes, I have HIGHER EXPECTATIONS of you, Mr Charles Bartowski. Ugh, I just wanted to slap the back of his head, in an older sister sort of way. GET IT TOGETHER, CHUCK. YOU ARE AN ADULT. BEHAVE LIKE ONE. YOU MADE SOME DECISIONS THAT HURT SOMEONE YOU CARE ABOUT. OWN UP TO THEM.

But hopefully he will have figured a few things out after the near-disastrous events of the last episode!

IF ONLY ELLIE KNEW. She would totally sit him down and inform him that PLAYING THE VICTIM IS NOT ADORABLE, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE NOT THE VICTIM.
