Ramblings or "What's this LJ thing for anyways?"

(1) 15000 determined little honey bees (YAY, bees!!) set up shop in my yard whilst I was gone, in a water cutoff access below my faucet. Four combs full of honey and babies! The beekeeper came and removed them (very carefully mind!) and was very happy to find another healthy hive of non-Africanized bees for his collection, as well as to collect ( Read more... )

Yay bees! We need all we can get.

Bag End looks so... palatial in that painting.

I'm so glad you're back.

*hugs and hugs*

I loved how Doctor Who kept mentioning "the bees disappearing" in Series 4. I think it made a lot of folks suddenly notice the problem. Woot!

John's Bag End is fabulous. It does look huge, but remember, I'm just hobbit size! ;D

Glad to be back!

*hugs*

That is so cool about the bees! I have flowers in my yard this year and I've had honey bees drop by but they haven't stayed. I am always glad to see them when they come. I've also had quite a few bumble bees. I love those guys!

Karl was perfect and Simon Pegg's accent was priceless! I think he was a Scot! I plan to see it again too. I also plan to own it when it comes out. Uhura and Spock were my only problem. I liked them on their own but couldn't see the romance. The only thing I did like about the romance was the it surprised Kirk! That was funny.

I have no flowers this year *pouts* because I was gone when I would have put them in and we are leaving again so I am reluctant to risk any flowers to our horrid August/September. Haven't seen any bumblebees in my yard this year, but my sis had tons of them, AND TOADS!! Lots of toads!

Simon was a hoot. When he opened his mouth and I heard that accent, I laughed out loud. I was the noisiest audience member for sure.

Well, as for Uhura and Spock, it WAS an alternate universe!! Heee.

It was just plain fun!

*waves back*

It was an alternate universe but years of thinking about a character in one fashion made that bit very hard to get used to. I think I can adjust to it after a few more viewings though. Both actors were very good so that helped.

I've only seen one frog this year in my yard but I had a garter snake! I was pleased to see him and helped him escape from my outside cat who is easily distracted by tummy rubs. hehehe

Most of my flowers are the ones that come up every year on their own so that means less effort. I have a few that require some effort but not many. I am a lazy gardener. I want pretty flowers but I don't want to work at it. *Sam would not be pleased with me.*

Well, I have to plant flowers that will survive the extreme heat and drought here. Which aren't many and are usually annuals. So you repeat the effort over and over again, year after year. I would love to live somewhere where you can plant perennials and watch them thrive year after year. Sam would likely be displeased with me as well. Hee!

Heee. That reminds me of that song of the Carpenters -- "Bless the beasts and the children..." Cool.

I think I am on Season 2.5, Disk 3 at this point. Someone needs to explain the whole 2.5 thing to me though. Ha! Ya know, you are absolutely right about the female characters.

Yep, I am moving into Bag End.

Chekov's accent had me giggling like a 16-year-old again.

Hee. When he tried to access the computer for the very first time, I nearly collapsed in my chair.

That picture gives me such an aching feeling of nostalgia and wistfulness!

gentlehobbit set up a group called hobbitswatchbsg in which there are discussions about BSG for those of us who are BSG virgins! (Sophinisba and I started watching it when she was visiting me in May and we're both addicted now).
