So, I'm in a mad, crazy rush to get everything ready to go out of town tomorrow.

--I did a lot of laundry yesterday, but still have some more to do.
--The car needs to be vaccumed out (I know, sounds weird pre-trip, but some potting soil got spilled and I'm not putting Chie's bed in the middle of it ( Read more... )

Sounds like a crazy day.
Sounds like a fun 4 days!
I relate to the trip prep- ours hasn't quite begun, but we're leaving for Utah on Tuesday, so I know it's coming soon.
Flying with a baby... should be interesting.
Good luck with your day today- sounds ultra busy- I hope you manage to maintain the energy you need!! ;)

I heard that nursing them during take-off can take away the pressure thing in their ears. Same premise as chewing gum-- because your jaw is moving, it takes away the build up?

Yeah. My mom flew with one of my sisters as a baby, and that's what she recommended. I'm definitely planning to do it. I'm hoping for a window seat ;)

Yeah, you'd just better hope you don't crash, 'cause there's no way you can hold on to a baby when a plane crashes. It's very dangerous.

Ooh, so are you going to swing down to Utah to see your friends?

If it were anywhere near Utah, we probably would. This is in Northern Idaho, though.

Oh. Yes. That would be true. Your wife and I talked about it as a slim possibility awhile ago, I think. Yes, northern Idaho is too far :( Pity. It would've been really nice to see you guys.

We'll come down at some point. Em has family down there and we like to take trips, so...

Well, when you put three siblings and their kids and grandkids into one space for three days, anything is bound to happen. Throw in that until six months ago there was a pretty major family feud over some appropriated property and so a lot of these people haven't spent any time in the same state for at least ten years and, well... you get why I said crazy. But the lake is beautiful, and at least Gus and I are going to go back to his family's old homestead, which we found last time (through some serious help from the other side of the veil, we're sure). As with other family things, like the blessing, we'll find ways to make it enjoyable even if things get out of hand. But his dad and his siblings are all really hilarious people. I'm sure that there will be some good times to report as well.

I figured that you were in for some family drama as part of this excursion, hence my Well-Wishings.

I remember our First Family Reunion With A Baby - er, Babies. It was an interesting experience to come to these and suddenly realize that our standing in the Family had changed dramatically because we had brought a new generation of family members along. I guess I just wonder if having Miss Chie along will have a similar effect on the way that the family sees you and Señor Gus...?

It will be interesting indeed. He's the youngest cousin by several years, but there are a few older than him without kids, so... there is a way to shorten his name that makes it much more juvenile that a lot of them might still be used to, and it'll be funny to see them use it. He hasn't gone by that name since he was a young teenager, but since that was the last time that they saw him. Well, you get the picture. I think that I'm just going to sit back and observe for a while until I get the lay of the family.
