That's awesome! I love that you're getting her interested in politics from a young age. Semi-related, today I was teaching a grade 10 SS class, almost entirely non-white, and we were talking about how Disney portrays race. It was like they had never considered it, and then suddenly BAM!... it made me sad. You guys are 16! You've never questioned the fact that your ethnicity is always portrayed as, say, a chihuahua? Or a monkey? Or a crazy, scary evil guy?

...my kids are going to be such nerds. "Well, back when I was four, my mom sat me down to discuss the domestic abuse in Beauty and the Beast..."

Go Mama!

It was an amazing vote for her to be able to look back on.

That's so cool that you're getting her interested in this stuff at such a young age. I vividly remember when I was 9 and my brother-in-law took me to a political rally for the '92 elections

My first cognizant memory-- I kid you not-- is riding in a stroller while my mom marched in a rally for the Oregon Human Rights Coalition. And I think that that really informed my early interest in politics because I knew that real people could actually be a part of the process. And I want to try to imbue that same sense with her so that she is one of those gets on board right from the get go.
