I think I never LOLed as hard as I did moments ago when you said 'qin fetish'. LOL. YOU SAY IT LIKE IT IS A BAD, BAD THING. ;D But ah damnit I can't not work it in. My first attempt was actually a cheerfulhappy fic. With mulberry farm visit. And silkworms. ... or at least I was thinking of that. Until the qin interrupts my Bollywood vision.
I'm glad you like SQ here because I had the hardest of time writing SQ. His voice is so hard to think in. *rubs eyes* I think I have to constantly remind myself of his underlying insecurities - with others it was due to his pre-Chi Bi record, but with ZL it is more with the fact that he respects ZL too much, and wouldn't want to ruin how ZL sees him, beyond his flaws, etc.
SQ is just scared. :P I think his fear overrules any sort of "OK HOTSEX TIEM" instinct that's running in his head. And if ZL doesn't make the first move, SQ will never do it. ;D ZL is all levels of awesome in being so sneaky.
Glad you think it's good! So worth my headache. ;D <3
Qin Fetish is a bad thing? Never! Why would I say such an awful thing ;P Anyway the more melancholic tone works for this fic a lot better than if it was a purely happy thing.
SQ just needed someone to show him the way ;) ZY did it with him and now ZL had to make the first move too. But I think afterwards he'd be more than comfortable taking the lead. It's always just that first hard step XD
LMAO I'm glad you slept before you finished this. Wouldn't want you to have more sleepless nights because of ZL/SQ (although that's not necessarily a bad thing, right?) *gg*
It's madness! ... I swear I will avoid it like the plague the next time I write a microfandom fic. *must pick a pairing where qins aren't used*
First step is always hard. ;D It's like taking a plunge into cold icy water. AHAHA. Someone needs to write a warm fluffy winter fic with the boys. :D!!
Oh damn, I'm glad I slept too because I didn't expect this to be epic-length. *looks at the fic* I was only expecting 1k, which was why I thought I'd finish it then go sleep. ... and I end up sleeping then writing, and look what it has evolved to... D:

When I saw this I squealed and flailed and then flailed even more when I realised SQ was going to visit ZL's farm omg i was thinking the mulberry trees and mingtian the silkworm might turn up LMAO*ahem

I SWEAR, I SWEAR ... I SWEAR I wanted to work Mingtian and the rest of the wriggly little boys in. But I am absolute fail when it comes to writing Bollywood-inspired farm fic (meadows and dancing and bootyshaking included), so I ditched that for this. Which is why at the start, you see SQ mulling over something like "WTF DO I WEAR?" and it wasn't that deep... but I gave up and the tone changes back to something more angst-driven. And the qin. Oh damn the qin

I would die laughing if anyone ever wrote a Bollywood RC fic with dancing silk worms and cooing pigeons (would pigeons eat silk worms?) and a cameo role from the wise old turtle PMSL

Re: epic commentaitakuteFebruary 27 2009, 02:50:33 UTC
I really have no idea if pigeons eat silk worms but I reckon worms are worms and ... pigeons eat worms. :D
I think ZL doesn't mind being the bottom, really. ;D He's got such an air of servitude attached to him that it's humbling considering how smart that man is, yet .... oh! <3 :D
Likewise! I mean, the posters were all about Tony, and Takeshi. One would think they would be paired somewhat. No doubt the qin scene is hot, but there's a lack of chemistry there and if anything, a sense of rivalry. Unlike.... unlike the court scene. That screams love at first sight. ;D (I wasn't bouncing on my chair - I was on the floor so ... bouncing on the floor? LOL.)
Aha! I love that phrase mono no aware, I didn't know what it is until you mentioned so I Googled it up, and now it's going to be my favorite phrase. *laughs* It's the sort of thing I tend to try to achieve with any pairing I write. .... ROFL HAHA if they did decide to fuck everything and start raising silkworms, the dead ones up there (Sun Ce, Zhou Yu, dead soldiers etc) would be

Quite interesting. I was wondering how you'd keep them together since ZL goes back with Liu Bei after the battle. I liked how you factored in the separation. It's been four years right?
The relationship could take on another dimension...when they first meet, ZL is trying to persuade SQ to go to war, something that his corrupt court does not wish for. In the tradition of Chinese poetry, there's this genre (from a famous poem, Lisao) in which a loyal subject/politician/advisor tries to guide his mislead lord back to the right path while being roundly ignored and/or rejected. This lament and advice in the poem is often couched as the lament of a neglected but loyal and virtuous lover of the lord. In Lisao the narrator/writer Qu Yuan poses as a woman in certain sections, bemoaning the loss of her lord's love, that her lord has abandoned her due to the gossip of jealous ladies of the court.
But on second thought, this one wasn't like that, because ZL does not serve SQ. And as for SQ, I think he would have found himself as a statesman by
Yeah, four years plus since Chi Bi. I figured that post-Chi Bi there's just too many things to deal with, and neither would be free for such dalliances. Taking their time would make more sense because like you said, ZL goes back with Liu Bei, and it would make absolute no sense for him to run over to the Kingdom of Wu. Maybe once or twice, I'd reckon, under the name of alliance-strengthening foreign affair visits, but it wouldn't be appropriate to act on their feelings in such a setting.
Now that's a very interesting poem, although yeah like you said, ZL doesn't serve SQ so it wouldn't necessary apply, but still the poem is interesting :)
yes, it is. the poem is very moving. i have sections of it in this chinese poetry textbook i'm reading. however i only read the translation as my chinese is bad (it was very difficult) and its in the traditional script and i only studied the simplified. oh goddd. however some of the beauty really did come through. this phrase from ZL, 'my beautiful lord' really jumped out at me. sounds like something he would say all breathless and choked with years of repressed emotion.
