Zac Efron's Twitter...

Mar 24, 2012 16:16

Since people want to vent, I'm making a separate post to keep it centralized. I would also like to state from the start, that as is the norm here, you don't have to agree with someone's comment, you can debate with them even, but you do have to respect them and allow them their opinion ( Read more... )

social media, skip if you don't like debate, @zacefron, essay

When I read that Zac got a FB page and Twitter I was happy because I thought it was a good way to promote the upcoming movies. But now I agree so much with you all. It's really stupid to RT every fan. You and others girls are doing a great work to promote Zac and I'm happy to re-tweet your tweets, cuz you dedicate a big time to your page :)
Zac made an interview in Italy telling again he hasn't any page on the net and every "zac" is fake :) but we knew it ;)

I'm so underwhelmed by all of this. LIke, I had to ask everyone who has the login/pw of zacbrasil's twitter to NOT tweet him asking for him to follow because 1) it is cheap & 2) tbh I don't want this kind of attention since what we do isn't exactly legal. Moving on...

I wouldn't care about following fan and giving RT to random people as long as they did a good job promoting but, no, they are even worst at that. Jesus Christ, any teenager know how twitter works better than whoever is running this. Jfc, this is no better than Rottman's 500 RTs and I'll tweet a new video.

I'm not impressed and I'm 100% following it out of loyalty.

Oh God I had forgotten about the 500 RTs thing. Maybe that's who's running it.

I kid. Kinda.

It was when he posted that stupid skateboarding vid. Said he'd post another one if he got 500 RTs.

People don't think it's really him who's using that twitter, right?

It's run similarly to Tom Cruise's twitter(following random people, retweeting their comments, etc), but everyone knows it's not Tom himself so that's fine.

Anyway, I'd rather they delete that account or let Zac take it over.

"It's run similarly to Tom Cruise's twitter(following random people, retweeting their comments, etc), but everyone knows it's not Tom himself so that's fine"

That's my point I made.

I don't think Zac wants to run his twitter (which I think is obvious), but some input from him would improve it. Just so whoever is running it actually knows Zac.

It used to be that way until yesterday. First, they used a neutral form and now they started impersonating Zac (using "I"). The vast majority (99%+) will think it's Zac tweeting that stuff himself.

I looked at Tom's twitter today, their retweets are not of the type, "OMG, I love you. You are the best actor on this planet" but rather quotes or comments about his movies. It's not nearly as self-congratulatory. And only a small part of the tweets, not spamming everyones timeline.

Also, the situation is slightly different since Tom's fanbase isn't as young and hence you don't have the permanent begging of follows and retweets like in Zac's. This makes interaction much more professional imo.

ETA: I should add that I would be perfectly ok with the Twitter being run like Tom's. My main problem is the impersonating and the huge share of retweets.

Personally, I thought his twitter and developing presence on other social networking sites was going to be positive to his career but I don't think at the moment its helping him in anyway - its just winding up his existing fans who aren't tweens anymore - this is hugely reflected in the number of followers he has (more than 1.3 million on Facebook and 125,000 on Twitter... a good reflection on the quality of content being produced because for a celebrity thats kinda embarrassing). The WhoSay managed sources seem to be better with the exclusive pictures from appearances (even if they generally just feature a sign from the show), links to new videos and interviews etc ( ... )

AGREED 100% I want to follow Zacs twitter because I want to know stuff about HIM/his projects. Not some random RT from a teenage fan freaking out about TLO. Its just stupid. Does the person that runs that twitter not know that IS NOT what his fans want to see/know?

I don't think the person running Zac's twitter knows him, or the fandom, at all.
