What a happy post!

As to altruism, I have always wondered when one practices altruistic behavior and gets a psychological boost from it--a sense of goodness, a feeling of accomplishment, etc., is the behavior truly altruistic? Honestly, when I do something that could be considered altruistic, I do it because it makes ME feel good. That defies the definition of altruism. (Unselfish concern for the welfare of others; selflessness.) The fact that I get good feelings from doing something for someone else, negates the "unselfish" aspect. I am behaving this way for the mental reward. The fact that someone else benefits does not change MY motivation.

I sincerely doubt that I am unique in this.
