Things I wish I knew, when I was new and green

One thing I wish I knew back then was: Yes, you can mix & match themes. If it only bag/shoes, you have, you don't have to leave the house on bare feet or without a bag, but I was told by rather strict lolitas I couldn't. Especially it is relevant to heart shaped bag, because at least by my opinion is pretty much the ultimative lolita bag, ( Read more... )

When I was a newbie, I wish I knew that:

1. Lolita can be considered as cosplay. My loli senior was also strict. She told me that if I was going into lolita, I had to treat it separately from regular cosplay. I however couldn't shake that thought off so until today, for me lolita is still a part of cosplay. I'm perfectly find till now so I guess there's nothing wrong with it.

2. BtB and /cgl exist! God, if only I found it sooner! Seriously they are rare gems where the supposedly elegant and/or innocent lolitas are trashing each other.

3. Some lolitas are snobbish loaded girls who like to mock others with limited budget. Back then when I was still new, I only had a few pieces of lolita costumes bought from Bodyline and Milanoo (do I need to censore this?), and those girls looked at me like I was some sort of lowlife alien.

1. If it makes you happy, I guess go for it. I am not the person, who will jugde.

2. If you so happy for them, why do you not post there instead? ;)

3. Milanoo aren't cheap, only in materials.

That even if I go a few weeks without getting a chance to wear lolita, that doesn't mean that I'm suddenly not a lolita anymore.

That I don't have to stick to one substyle.

That although buying blouses only in black, white and beige is practical, it's also nice to have a couple of blouses in other colours, just to add a bit more variety.

I think it is common "new lolita" miscomception about lolita lifestyle and lifestyle lolita. Big difference.
