Wardrobe Planning

Hello!

So I have a question... how do YOU plan out your wardrobe?
Do you have an excel spreadsheet with separate tabs for each brand?
Do you just buy whenever you find something you like?
Or do you draw your plan out on the back of a pop quiz? (⌒_⌒;)

I separate by item type, then colour, so it's easy to see what I have just by looking in my wardrobe. I've found that having a wish list helps me plan as well, but that tends to be more "Red shoes", or "black JSK" than a specific print - I rarely fall in love with specific prints, so it's more about filling gaps in my wardrobe that I've identified than anything else!

Yours is cute! I never thought about drawing it out. I might have to now.

I have a word document with headers for different categories like "Undergarments" or "Skirts" or whatever and under it have a description of the item and where it's from like "pink old school skirt - Anna House". I use it to keep an inventory of all the things I have and things I want/will need. Then when I acquire an item, I italicize it. I also have a Bodyline wishlist that's full of blouses, socks, shoes, small headbands, and a handful of main pieces. I'm planning to fill my wardrobe with Bodyline and indie brand staples and then I can integrate brand dresses and maybe upgrade some of those staple items to brand.

I use Polyvore because I can add by myself all the items I own, including the ones from non-lolita brands which I cannot find in Lolibrary/Hellolace ofc. From here, I can easily see what kind of items I need to complete my outfits and make a "Wishlist" set if desired. If the item I want is from a lolita brand, I have a private lj entry where I save the links directing to research pages of second-hand shops and auction sites.

The only problem on Polyvore is adding handmade stuff or old stuff from indie brands, because the site don't allow to upload your own pics :( Usually I resolve this problem adding very similar items which I found in the web.

When I used Polyvore heavily, they had the clipper tool! It's an extension on your browser that you can download. Is it not there anymore? With it, you can import images all over the web. But you have to be careful of copyright.

Mostly I just make a list in my diary and notebooks of my dream dresses, and then when I have money (and very rarely at that) I try and find the pieces. Drawing it out looks like a really good idea! Sometimes I draw my dream pieces, but less with the view of buying them, aha. :)

I don't really plan mine out, I'm just buying or making clothes as I go along. I've tried planning before, considering how things will go together and considering doing it all with themes and certain colours, but I find I'm happier with my wardrobe being a bit of a mix.
