New jsk. Many, many questions!

Sep 15, 2015 10:09

The other night, while looking for some cute black dresses, I impulse bought Btssb's waffle snow dot jsk in pink. I'm sure I'll love it when it arrives, but right now, I'm kind of concerned given I have nooooo idea what to do with it. I'm also very new in my lolita journey, and therefore, barely have anything else to draw from ( Read more... )

I think the shoes you would have work. but it might be cute to do it old school and wear them with black shoes or brown. i like the idea of weight tights or maybe white lace tights. this dress look more like a cardigan or bolero should be worn with it. I think a pink white combo would be best. also with the fanciness of the neckline a simpler blouse would work. it would be best if you got one short sleeved and one long-sleeved so you can wear it year round.

I've been wanting my wardrobe to be pink, black, and white, so I've been thinking about getting some black shoes for whenever I get black dresses and such. Getting black shoes now would totally work, so I'm actually really happy you suggested black shoes!

Would a black blouse or black tights be too dark? I was just going to default to white blouse and white tights / socks because I figured that'd be more "normal", but I generally prefer black over white.

I also prefer black over white. I think pink and black look really cute together.

I already have some black tights and shoes that may work, so perhaps I'll try those before I buy anything new...

Thanks for your input! :)

I would say this dress is MORE versatile because it doesn't have a print. Just imagine the possibilities ( ... )

Are there lolita peignors? I don't know if I've ever seen one, but being new, perhaps I just have missed them.

Thanks for the color suggestions! Lavender was the other color I was interested in, so in the future, perhaps I'll have some lavender stuff to mix it with.

Appreciate the input about the Mary Magdalene dress, too. I really love it, but thinking it may be too "special occasion" for me... Trying to decide. :)

Awww I just bought the same dress in the same color! It arrived today and I can assure you it is very beautiful! I think color-wise, you can combine it with many other colors! I plan to wear a full pink coord, with a long-sleeved chiffon blouse, pink tights and Bodyline shoes (not sure if my shoes are dark pink or light pink, but I think this dress is somewhat between dark and light, so it will fit several shades of pink ^-^). I want to make a princess / hime coordination with it :)

Oooh! That's exciting to hear. I would love to see pics of your pink coord when you've gathered it all together! Sounds lovely.

Are you going to wear an A-line petticoat?

I will send you a picture when I'm wearing it :)
No I will wear my bell-shaped petticoat since the dress is also bell-shaped :)

*It has a gathered waist, so I think it should be bell shaped. If you do want an A-line though, I picked up a Victoriangirldress petti off ebay for under $20. They're A-line and their largest size goes up to about a 35in waist, despite being children's sizes ( ... )

Thank you! I will try my cupcake petticoat, and if it doesn't work, look for something else. Have you had your Victoriangirldress petti for long?

I have the enamel version. It's a fairly bright light pink, now that I look at them... Are those the same ones you have?

The cap sleeves threw me off! That's why I couldn't figure out if it needed a blouse or not... But since it was a JSK, I thought, maybe? Do all JSKs need blouses? I didn't know! I think I might poke around more and see if I can find some basic black blouses and basic white blouses, just so I can at least try some things out.

For sure going to look for white tights, since that's been frequently recommended.

Love the MM dress! It's not my usual style, but it's so cute... Not what I'm looking for, but ahhh, love it. o_o

Thanks for all the advice!

Yep. About two years now. It's held up well. My most worn dress has a pretty heavy skirt and weighs it down after a few hours but it pops back up the next time you wear it.

Yeah, the enamel ones. I found they were really hard to coordinate since lolita pink tends to be a specific shade of baby pink.

Most JSKs need blouses but some are designed to we worn without them. Ones with sailor collars or AP's Promenade de Paris or something like that can usually be worn without.

Good to know! I remember looking at them when I was first looking for a petticoat, but had forgotten about them. Thanks for the reminder. :)

Ahhh, dang! I love the style, but didn't even think about the color being difficult... Have you managed to coordinate them with some things?

How confusing about JSKs. I still have lots to learn, though, so it's nice to hear. Looking at blouses right now! Yay!
