Ordering for a deadline

I'm plus size and new to lolita. I was planning on ordering my first petticoats (Classical Puppets bell and a-line) and the Dancing Roses (not sure if I'll go for OP, JSK, or SK yet) by Surface Spell Gothic with custom sizing via MLD, QutieLand, or Clobba. I will be wearing them for a special event July 4th weekend (a commitment ceremony). The time ( Read more... )

store: qutieland, ordering: misc questions, *surface spell, request: advice

I recall ordering an R-series item through qutieland and recieving it 9 months later.

I did order a classical puppets petti for a friend through Spreenow and recieved it in less than a month. So use a shopping service like spreenow and you'll be in good shape.

Thank you for the input. Nine months! That's pretty painful. It definitely sounds like going with a custom from a North American seamstress, or ordering through a TaoBao reseller, are the best choices.

For US seamstresses I was gonna suggest the shop English Charm but it looks like she let her domain default and she has no items in her etsy store, so maybe she doesn't do it anymore?

maybe off topic. But if your looking for a petticoat that is made for your measurements. I recommend lolitabutiken.se and their petticoats made by Eva her self (ergi by pirantessans brand) i do not know how shipping is outside sweden but she make them in about two weeks. And you can ask her if they will arrive in time.
Mine is cupcake shaped in organza and it is a dream come true. just a suggestion. if you end up feeling stressed.

I might consider that. I read something somewhere about CP's quality going downhill, but it was a comment in passing, and everywhere else seems to recommend them above everyone else's.

I did really like how full the CP cupcake seemed to be, and the lace trim is a nice touch. But I should probably consider other vendors too. :)

I would go straight through a shopping service rather than a reseller. I've had good experiences with spreenow and taobaonow. You should be fine with four months!

I would either use a shopping service or find a person who can make you a custom sized petticoat.

I had a petticoat(and shoes) ordered from Qutieland, and while it was ordered in late July, it didn't get to me until October/November :/ My friend has had faster shipping with MLD, though I think I remember from another post on here that they'll be slow at the moment because of holiday...

You can also try looking online for indie brands that produce petticoats custom(e.g. like Bunny House) if you can't find a local seamstress. Usually, you can find reviews and stuff about their service and see how long they take to ship ^-^

Yeah, I've been looking into Indies to see what they make, as potential alternatives to TaoBao. I fell in love with The Snow Field's Water Lilly of Monet dress, but it's not available in my size and even if they used to do custom (I have no idea), they're closing down and won't anymore. I guess I just haven't see anything that gets me super excited. My feelings about Surface Spell's Dancing Roses are positive, but still a little lukewarm, so maybe given the timing risks of ordering from TaoBao, I should just find a local Indie seamstress and get something made the way I want it.

I ordered shoes from qutieland and they just shipped friday. this was with lunar new year. they were a bit slow to get payment settled but they seemed to ship things out on time. I've heard clobba is much better. I plan on buying from them when I want to buy surface spell gothic.

That is fast. Thanks for the data point! It seems like they're really varied in their speed.
