I would be happy to see more wolves return to their natural territory. I. Know the farmers would hate it, but we really are the intruders. Wolves wouldn’t bother bean fields and we would all be better off with less meat in our diets. I’m not a big fan of hunting, but I feel like if I’m going to eat meat, i should be much closer to the process of hunting/raising/butchering it. It’s too easy to buy too much and waste it now.
It all seems so complicated and hard to please everyone. Whatever anyone does affects something else. I can see the point of wolves but I'm not sure I'd want them in my neighborhood. I'd like to know more about how safe they are with humans and dogs. Maybe wolves would be good - they might cut down on coyotes and our cats and small dogs could be safer. Coyotes eat a lot of baby deer. People with beef and sheep farms around here wouldn't like wolves though. It would put them out of business. Too bad the wolves don't know to stay in the invisible boundaries of the big parks.
Historically, wolves have gotten a really bad rap. They might attack dogs if the opportunity arose, but they are generally very shy around humans and avoid them. I follow a wolf project in someplace like Minnesota; they have successfully worked with farmers to fence off their cattle safely. It took work to convince the farmers there was an alternative to killing the wolves, and then to get the fencing installed so it was effective. I suppose we should ask ourselves why the wolves need to be the ones who stay inside boundaries we imposed on them after we invaded their territory.
Yeah, it's hard to think of it as a 'savory' thing but it was how our ancestors had to live for a very long time. I think it's built into some people. Dave has the patience and desire to be in the woods All Day Long in this freezing cold. It seems he has a need for it. Hard for me to understand but I have to accept it.

I think it is interesting how the watercolor pencil marks ended up mixing in and tinting the white paint as I put it on later over the pencil.
Yes, too bad I don't eat land animals - maybe I'd be more excited about it then.
