Man i haven't seen one of those Jesus setups since... well since i lived in Europe i suppose. They were always one of my favorite things to set up at Christmas, some kind of special toy/doll/action figure that only comes out once a year. Our set always had a detachable Jesus and the gimmick in our family was everyone would stand around the empty crib till Dec 24 and then Dec 25 morning baby Jesus would miraculously appear in the crib. Many years later, when i grew up, i was talking to a lady in Panama, and she told me that in that country there is no Santa, but baby Jesus flies around the world delivering presents! That made me imagine Jesus was like a little starchild, some cherub-like alien that pop out of the sky delivering presents to everyone before finally flying into the crib in Bethlehem. It's a nice image.
Anyway, the question i really wanted to ask is... who is the lady with a baby to the right of the wise men? Is it another whimsical take on this story or a piece of apocrypha i never heard of?
Absolutely sharing your relief that the holidays are over. I love the joy they bring, and the excitement and visits with family and friends. But I hate that everything kind of grinds to a halt, and you have to time when to get groceries before stores close, and put off errands, and then once the holidays are over it feels like work and chores have just piled up all over the place.
The wedding sounds like so much fun! A little dirty humor is to be expected, I'd hope, when handed a prop like that!
Very much hope that you touch on all of your goals this year. It's admirable to set goals for yourself whether you end up reaching them or not. Not sure about your food preferences, but berries have the lowest sugar and highest fiber of all the fruits. Pears and kiwi are also good choices for keeping sugar low and fiber high. Tropical fruits are your enemy haha
I've got to the point of just explaining to people, up front, that I've had some hearing loss due to an infection in one ear, and that I've always had what is called "low selectivity:" I'll detect sounds very easily, even faint or delicate sounds, but if there is any other noise (which it seems there always is!) or anything to distort said sound such as an air current or some distant extraneous noise from outdoors, I hear them both equally "strongly." My ears and my brain don't give either priority.
As a result, I'm often trying to juggle all the pieces of a sound jigsaw puzzle: do these bits fit together?---yes, but that word they make doesn't make sense; could this person mean---?
So, I explain, and I tell them: slower, and more muscular, and you need to be speaking straight-on at me.
And actually I am able to do all this explaining and conveying a lot more efficiently than I've written it out, here.
Hearing appliances would be welcome (I think!), but we have other medical matters demanding money.

I think that figure you are questioning is a shepard holding a lamb. :-)
