Candy and I had quite the strenuous hike yesterday. Went down to Dennison Run and then climbed the big hill up to the overlook. That hill is a long and steady climb - 570 feet up. I had a stiff neck for some reason and that bothered me - I didn't feel very "fluid". Once you get down to Dennison Run there are many bridges that cross back and forth. ( Read more... )

Regarding the apple splitter person - I wonder if she used long(ish) fingernails? I've never heard of that either. Are you going to try it yourself?

You use the meaty part of the base of your thumbs to push it apart. Check it out on YouTube. I actually did it today!

I haven't looked it up but imagine that if the apple was the type that has a sort of "hollow" core, you could leverage your thumbs into the stem area or something. Now I have to try it next time haha

the trail looks lovely to walk this time of year with all the leaves. glad they repaired the bridges.

i did not know you could even do that with an apple! (i went and watched youtube videos)
