If you have hardwood or linoleum floors I think you would love it. We have mainly hardwood floors with one Oriental type rug in the living room. It's perfect for all that.
Regarding independence - I am the same way. You described it perfectly. I abdicate constantly. Until there's no one to hand it to, then I'm reminded, "I CAN do this this!"
I remember this teapot! The memory of it was buried deep, but when you started talking about it and where it was stored, it came front and center in my mind! I don't remember the brand name of all those colorful dishes we had, but I remember seeing them daily in the cupboard. Dad liked to use the large shallow bowls when he had soup. I bet there was a whole set of dishes when mom got them, but I think many got broken over the years and their numbers dwindled down. Is there a signature on the bottom of the teapot? I'm so glad you have the teapot. I love it....I love the square shape.
