jelly cup gouache (a review?)

Mainly because Nancy was asking me about gouache once and I told her what I knew at the time - which wasn't much it seems now, so I wanted to explain about these new jelly cup ones I got. Here's some pictures of opening the case they came in and making a color chart: ( Read more... )

Aaaah those images of the jelly cups are so satisfying. That must have been fun to open them all and check them out. <3

very interesting !
thank you
the watercolor sketchbook i have been using has felt inadequate
not taking the paint quickly leaving a pale color
nowhere near vibrant enough needing over painting

(strange because i have been using this brand without this problem)

where did you get that set?
how do you have to care for the brushes?

I got it at amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08D3G7HMF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

You care for the brushes the same way as you would with watercolors. I usually did everything before with transparent watercolors. I'm looking forward to adding opaque paint to my repertoire.

These look interesting to use. I imagine they have more depth of color than watercolors.

They can definitely be opaque when used full strength. I haven't tried thinning them out to use like watercolor yet.
