jelly cup gouache (a review?)

Mainly because Nancy was asking me about gouache once and I told her what I knew at the time - which wasn't much it seems now, so I wanted to explain about these new jelly cup ones I got. Here's some pictures of opening the case they came in and making a color chart:

First I took all of them out of their original spots. I wanted to open them all and look at them before I decided where they would go in the case.

It was not that easy to get some of them open. I was glad that I had watched a you-tube first that recommended that you have a pair of plyers handy to get the tops off some of them. Some were easy to get off with your fingernails but then there would be the tough one and I was glad I knew to get out the plyers. After opening them all I needed to wash my hands - pretty messy.

I arranged them in the case with the idea that they are messy and it might be hard to keep them out of each other. I wanted to try to put colors next to each other that would be the easiest for clean up. It was nice that they included ten good brushes in the set and a white pallet for paint mixing.

Color chart done. I only did a tint of certain colors. Didn't feel like I needed to do that for all the colors.

I guess the thing to do will be to have a fresh piece of saran wrap ready to lay over them when I get done with a painting session so they will stay moist for next time and not stray from cup to cup when I put the lid on. The case will need to be stored flat.

First time using them - though it is very minimal use. I had been waiting all week till they got here to put those leaves on the right side page. Another instance of juxtaposition!
