Not done yet but I like where it's going. Watercolors on cold pressed watercolor paper on the right and watercolors, colored pencil and Uni Posca pens over gesso on the left. I used masking fluid before I painted it with watercolors on the left side. Back in the day when I was taking art classes the teacher would have called what I did with the 2 sides "juxtaposition". I always thought that was a cool concept and word.
The jelly cup gouache paints arrived this morning so I want to try them out. It'll be fun opening the cups up and making a trial chart of the colors. When I was doing jewelry I liked that I had so many options for textures and colors to use. I feel like I am accumulating paints, pens, pencils and mediums now in the same way. Feels exciting - maybe I have some more creativity in me yet. I hope so. That is one of my main worries anymore. Getting old and my brain is closing down. I do know for sure that my brain and creativity isn't what it used to be. I just don't want it to be "gone" yet.
This morning I woke up and lay in bed for a while thinking. I was remembering all the large format collage books I used to work on - books with 8.5" x 11" cardstock in 3 ring binders. Before we moved back over to this house in 2013 I used to work on those a lot. It might be a good time to get those back out again.

Now Sunshine is molting. This is the second morning in a row when I went to do poop pickup in the coop that I found it full of Sunshine's feathers. That looks like a lot of feathers but birds have a lot of feathers. She is still fully covered - just looks a bit raggedy and uneven. The same with Dorothy, who is molting too but Dorothy is done losing feathers and is in the process of growing them back now. I wish I had a video of what Sunshine looked like this morning when she shook herself out in the yard - a flurry of about 30 feathers flew off in all directions - snowing feathers.
Today - a quiet Sunday. Nothing on the agenda except playing with artsy stuff and piano practice.
