During the night a car wrecked into an electric pole in front of a neighbor's house (I hope no one was seriously injured - the pole was sheared off and in 3 pieces) and we lost power around 3 in the morning. The temperature outside was in the 30's and as the day went on the temp inside our house eventually got down to 50. I did enjoy the quietness

Now that is one very rare selfie. I would do the same for my animals. I do have one old cockatiel (I used to have 4 but three have died) I have had him since he came out of the egg. He is 22 this year. When my husband was still alive, we had a whole house generator installed (mostly for hurricanes) it kicks in when the power goes out.

We do have a portable generator but it is over at the house next door. Seemed like a lot of work to bring it over just for Yoshi's tank heater. If it was already hooked up I'm sure we would have flipped the switch. Though I liked having some time with Yoshi. She gets ignored a lot - doesn't really ask for attention and seems fine to just be in her tank looking out at us.
