making an attempt

I can see that lately I have fallen into a depressed place. Kind of a hopeless place. End of life place. Being creative seems like too much for me a lot of the time. The other day while in the hospital I said I was bored. That was something I never used to say. I have always thought there is something interesting to see or think about no matter ( Read more... )

I haven't heard of "everything books" - what are they and how do they work?

"Everything Book" is just my name for a large sized journal book I started to make a few years ago. So far I have been making them 12" x 9" in size and I collage a picture on each page spread and then color the pages to match the pictures. I leave a kind-of clear spot in the middle of the opposite page from the collage image so I can draw something there if I want. In the past I have had multiple journal books - one for poetry, one for daily writing, one for my meditations, one for jewelry designs and art designs, one for drawing. So I thought I would start to have just one book for everything. This new one will be Everything Book #11.

I hope this feeling passes soon. If it lingers, be sure to let your doctor know. Sometimes it is a side effect of medication, or the result of the a fib. My dad went through something similar and lost a lot of weight before they figured it out and changed up his medications.

Thanks for your concern. I think I have been battling this depressed feeling ever since the cancer diagnosis in April. This new thing (afib) just adds a bit more to it. The hormone drug I started in July can cause depression too. I'm hoping as I get farther from the cancer and soon, farther from the new issue of a-fib it will all lighten up. Though I won't hesitate to tell my doctor if I feel like it gets to be too much.

You've been through a lot this past year, and it all has an impact.

I've mentioned before that I teach about much of this. Hearing of your experiences makes me understand it in a different way, and I try to bring what I learn into my teaching. That you for being so honest in what you are experiencing.

Sorry to hear you have had such a rough ride, Mary - I am thinking of you. My husband had cancer a couple of years ago and faced a lot of issues himself. Hopefully, you will make some improvements soon.

How is your husband doing now?

I think I'm just getting used to this new round of health problems. Hopefully as time goes on it will just become old stuff.

He seems OK at the moment - has a new round of tests in the New Year so fingers crossed for that.

I seem to recall from nursing school that both atrial fib and depression are often linked to potassium deficiencies. It's not a cause-and-effect linkage, but still... Do you like bananas? :-)

Your artwork and your handcrafts are both stunningly beautiful.

i had my potassium checked just recently and it's okay. I eat a lot of the foods that are high in potassium. I think I'm mainly depressed by getting old! And things going wrong with me.

Thanks. :-)
