I went to see Pan's Labyrinth today with rubeus. It was a very good movie. Not exactly a happy one - though set in the Spanish Civil War, happy would probably be a bit much to expect. It was, however, wonderfully written, and the ending was incredibly ambiguous. Much more so than MirrorMask, which I'd thought (at the time) was pretty ambiguous. And the ( Read more... )

Anyone who sees Pan's Labyrinth owes it to themselves to see The Devil's Backbone. Same writer/director, also with a Spanish civil war backdrop, it's more ghost story than fantasy piece but there's definitely a similar vibe you feel going on in both films.

No, I hadn't. Everyone's always shocked when I say this.

I'll check out the Devil's Backbone. It sounds interesting, though I'm not sure how much I'll like it.
