Coraline, Eureka, etc.

I'm not sure how many people have seen this. A while ago, efficient_cow linked me to a poster for the Coraline movie. It looks creepy.

Watched the last few Eureka 7 episodes last night. It's a very interesting series... It probably would've worked much better in 26 episodes with less filler. However, it's still very good. There's a lot of interesting ( Read more... )

Hm. Actually, I think the reaction to the end of Eureka 7 would be pretty much the same as the reaction to the end of Aquarion. It's slightly less absurd, but still very surreal.

Like a modernized Mospeada, you say? I'll have to look into this. Of course, I still need to actually watch the original Mospeada itself eventually. If I didn't have my hands full with (or, more accurately, my bandwidth allotted to) downloading late 60's daytime soap operas I'd just go hit up the torrent sites. Maybe sometime I'll just see if VideoDifference has the box set...

In very vague terms. It's dealing with a similar overall plot, has a similar resolution, and has a similar overall "feel" to the cast of characters. The specifics are very different.

Also note that you can get the MOSPEADA box set from Right Stuf for $25+tax+shipping. That comes out to about $1/episode, which is definitely worth it. It's a good series, even if it is a bit old.

Thanks for the heads up. My DVD spending budget it currently earmarked for the just released Batman Beyond Season 2, Justice League Unlimited Season 1, and The Adams Family vol. 1 box sets right now (if I could actually find them in stock anywhere, grr), but I'll definitely bookmark this one for later. It's definitely the right price, especially seeing as I already own the Robotech: Protoculture Collection and thus already own the series in one form, just not the original.

On the upside, you get to see/hear Dakoda Fanning being menaced by things with black button eyes. (I can't remember whether the whole thing's animated, or if it's animation + live actors, like Mirror Mask)

Plus, the cat!
