oooh I like the handwritten journal and the lovely pictures! i'm kinda curious about how "totally ghetto" the neighborhood you stayed in is.

well, i suppose it wasn't *awful*, but for the first couple blocks we walked, all we saw were a bunch of homeless people, guys sounding like they were about to get into fights, and people who looked like they all came from some kind of freak show. we expected to see a variety of people in a city like SF but until we got past the 5 or 6 blocks of Market Street from where we were staying, we were a little scared. then things started to get a little more normal/better :)
