Frustrated

So, I've apparently done something bad to my knee. I've had weak knees for years now, ever since I used to do hunter-jumper riding as a teenager. Usually, they've just gotten twingy or achy for a while, then they'll slack off for a few months. My preferred method of exercising is to do step workout videos, and sometimes I'll have to make sure not ( Read more... )

Oh honey, my knees went bad on me in my teenage years, along with about every other joint I have. There is no telling and no, it's not your fault. Knees are so damn delicate that you can damage them almost by just looking at them wrong. Perhaps a brace would help. *hugs*

Injuries like that take longer to heal than it feels like. If your stomach can take it, take naproxen every day, or some kind of NSAID, until you can get to the doctor. And please, do go. I have a bad tendon in my hip/leg from some dance injury I don't even remember getting, and I didn't treat it aggressively enough at the beginning, and now I will always have pain. It's a hundred thousand times better to go to the doctor if you maybe don't need it, than to let something like that go. And I say that as someone who fucking hates doctors.

I understand the emotional thing completely. My leg thing . . . that fucked my mobility up for a while and kept me from dancing. That was absolutely crushing to my spirit, and I still get really sad/angry about it sometimes.

*hugs*

I hope this is something that will fix itself if treated with care.

Didn't have a break today to call the doctor, but I will tomorrow. It was better today, but even so, I forgot once when I got up out of a chair at work and . . . ouch.

Even the simple velcroed brace will help prevent that. And remind you that it needs to be babied. They aren't very expensive at any drug store. *hugs*
