Not gonna lie, guys; this is easily one of my top five. I still get really happy when I see Stephen Root in anything, purely because seeing him makes me think of this episode. Without further delay, prepare yourself for the amazing awesomeness of... Mr. Chaney!

Guess Marilyn's right on the 'paternalism' of Eerie, 'men of Eerie' enter the lottery and gets women as rewards. (Interesting that Marshall immediately rejects that as a temptation ( ... )

I love the Mars/Dash in this episode. The little shoulder pats and Dash actually asking Mars what the plan is, and the 'I go where you go'. (Especially sweet it's Dash reaching out physically, as when Chisel puts his arms around the boys, Dash looks uncomfortable.)

Yeah, me too. I love that Dash is always the one initiating contact with Mars, and also Simon when he's knocked down by the werewolf, here but would clearly rather avoid it from anybody else...his "ew" reaction to Chisel is priceless!

They both reject the traditions of Eerie in a way even Simon doesn't

This is one of those episodes, like Tornado Days, that reminds you Simon is a native of this place, and Eerie traditions are the traditions he's known his whole life. If it weren't for Mars, he might have grown up taking the weirdness for granted.

until he's persuaded by cheerleaders - who he initally ducks from, lol - and...cows?) The going over the back of the couch to escape the cheerleaders scene is the best ( ... )

“The Howling…I love that movie!" Nice self shout-out there, Joe Dante!

So Dash has been keeping away so far since his abrupt fade at the mill, but Marshall Teller has made enough of an impression on him that he's learned and retained his full name.

Seriously, what happened to the cow?!

This is the one and only episode where we actually get to see the Eerie Library, or at least a tiny corner of it. I sill wish there would have been a full library set they could have visited regularly. (I'd kind of get this wish fulfilled later by Buffy, I guess.)

Somebody’s created a thematic wolf display shelf for the harvest season, which is nice.

Also, the newspapers from the '20s are in incredibly good shape, aside from stuff being cut out of them. What is the secret? Foreverware as a preservation strategy?

Decent monster shift for a low budget show. I think Stephen Root's acting helps sell it as much as anything.

"It's you!" followed by the Twin Peaks reference is one of my favorite moments in the entire series ( ... )
