Help my doggie

Alright, I'm gonna post Kaley's problems here because it's been a couple days and while she's not getting any worse, she doesn't seem any better either, and continuing the way she is will cause her more problems. I tried to look up her symptoms online but only them as an independent problem, not a combination ( Read more... )

Kerry is thinking inflamed anal glands or bowel obstruction, maybe? The anal glands would make her not want to poop. Bowel obstruction would make her very unhappy and could cause an infection. Except I think she'd hurt when she walked, to, and you said she doesn't. Poor puppy. =( Has the vet said anything else?

Erin, I wish I could give you some answer as to what illness Kayley has but I can't. All I can give you is advice that I've developed from previous experiences. You see, I've been through the same symptoms with 5 different pets (2 dogs, 3 cats) that I've had. They were all advanced in age and with some the symptoms developed slowly, while with others it was much faster. I took each one of them to the vet when this started to happen (obviously I had all of the pets at different times in my life), and with each one the vet said the same thing. It was that this is what animals start to do when they're ready to go. They stop eating, start to relieve themselves in their home, and even though the are not in any pain they continually stay in one place. When they do move it is often to the bathroom floor (or bathtub) because it's cooler. I hope that I am completely wrong about this and that Kayley is suffering from an illness that can be cured. The only thing I can really offer is what the vet has said to me 5 times in the past. Be with her ( ... )

Thank you for your support Morgon. I'm sorry you've had to be told this before, I know it's a horrible feeling. Thankfully Kaley is acting better, so hopefully her fate won't be the same. It's good to know who's there for me :0)

Well I'm so glad that she's feeling better, and hopefully her improvement will continue. If for some reason something else does come up and you need help getting her into a vet just let me know. Although, after meeting her the many times that I have, she seems to be strong and stubborn (but in a good way). So if she's getting better it's a good sign that she'll pull through this.

Umm.. call the vet again. I wouldn't make a big deal out of it yet, but if it's still taking a bit, you should call again.

Has she had any interaction with strangers since she's been sick? Any reaction to people at the door? I realise that you don't, of course, want to introduce unnecessary added stress in her condition, but any response at all might be good and I know how she dislikes non-pack members.
