Mmm, autumn food!

Jimmy beat me to the crockpot and made another pot of beans, and this time he added smoked ham hocks. I put on my Big Girl Pants (TM) to try it, because I admit I'm a little wigged out by food with recognizable animal parts in it. I wish I liked beans. The only kind I'll eat is green beans. To be honest, I haven't tasted a bean in at least 10 years. I wonder if I'd like them any better now.

Hrm. Well, there are lots of varieties of beans out there. Have you tried black beans? I used to only get them in restaurants, and I wondered what flavoring was in there that made them so tasty, then I tried some right out of the can and was shocked to realize that it was just their unadulterated flavor. I also like Northern White (aka cannelini) beans, cooked with bacon and rosemary.

Almost everything is better with a little bacon in it, hm?
