Weather update, for those of you in foreign parts: It's getting rapidly colder and darker round here, it's gloves weather when cycling in to work, and even if I leave bang on 5.30pm it's obviously getting dark. I'm really not looking to the clocks going back at the weekend- just looked it up and on Sunday sunset here

Ah, thanks for the heads-up about the clocks! Although these days usually my computer or mobile phone reminds me when I switch it on on the Sunday morning.

And the Raoul's job sounds just perfect for Cat! Do tell her I'm really pleased for her about it. I can really see her getting into the fine details of cocktail-making.

There are some of us who remember the experiment with this in about 1968-70. My recollection is that, for about three months of the year, I never saw daylight between weekends. Of course, I was driving to work to arrive at 09.00, rather than mid-day, but it was a very depressing time of year. I don't believe the safety or ease-of-business arguments, either.
