Dear lord! I'm so sorry (my BB is dealing with cataracts right now, so eyes are very much on my mind.) Your doctor should have told you, most definitely! And it goes without saying - although I'll say it - that I'm so sorry your eyes are causing you problems.

How could they not--I, I just don't understand *how*--you give it to 'em! That is UTTERLY ridiculous! Someone needs to be smacked upside the head with those charts! *hug*
For what it's worth, my mother had glaucoma from her mid-40s onward. Took drops for them, and (other than the fact that her night vision became unreliable) her eyesight actually improved a little. It's possible that yours is in very early stages and can be treated easily. I certainly hope so.
On the other hand, that's not a diagnosis anyone wants to hear. My father had macular degeneration; mom had glaucoma. You can bet that, for me, seeing the eye doctor every year is not just a good idea, it's a religious obligation.
