O, insomnia, thou art a constant companion

I've redesigned my LJ. Including my Profile page (which I now ADORE - GO SEE THE PRETTY!).

I'd still like a custom graphic design, but that ain't in the cards. After four hours of searching through mintyapple, however, I found this one. Mmmmmm. Soothing.

~~oOo~~Today I go see the neurosurgeon/orthopaedist up at Concord Orthopaedics to see what he has to ( Read more... )

spine, i need a new back but it's on back order, health, cats

If you like, I can PM you countessaleska'a email address; she's on disability for her fibro, and she's fiercely committed to helping others navigate the morass of red tape it takes to get the help they need. She's also familiar with all the unhappiness that comes of being Too Damn Young to be disabled, and yet out of other options. Good gal to talk to, in other words.

Yes, please! I'd love to get in touch with her. I'm feeling ... overwhelmed. And under-brained about this. I'm usually so very good at research, at navigating government and state things, and for this? I think it's because it's about me, but I feel like just crawling in a hole and pretending it isn't happening.

The profile page is The Gorgeous. This page, however, is curiously gray and hard to read. Is it something I said?

Has anyone actually said that they can do something about the back? Other than tsssking and pointing at stuff?

Hrm, on my screen it's beige and tan and cream and brown. Odd that. I wonder if it's the screen brightness?

I'm glad you like Pooh. I couldn't resist.

ETA: About back. Not yet. Though they did make "OMG it's not all in your head" noises pretty loudly when I was there last, which is when they ordered the umpteenth MRI and set up the appointment with the neurosurgeon for a consult. Which is today. Fingers crossed that I like him and what he has to say. Because while I would actually rather go up to Hanover (Dartmouth), it's a 1.5-hour haul each way and poor Elric would have to leave me up there for a few days if they did the surgery and I know it would kill him to not be able to visit (though frankly, I'd be sleeping most of the time, so, meh).

My dear, everybody doesn't like something, but nobody doesn't like Sara Lee Pooh!

I suspect that if it were between being unable to visit for a couple of days and having an editrx who was in less pain, Elric would manage. I mean, he'd get you back in the end, all improved and stuff.

I've buffed up the colors of the text, though I've left the funkiness of the italics to be a different color in the same palette.

And I really should get about 1 hr sleep before I go to the dr. I haven't slept yet. Dang. It was a bad night.

My mother had to go on permanent disability after a week spent in intensive care and a month in hospital. Just email me if you want and have time for the details of the process as we went through it. I understand it is slightly easier north of the Manson/Nixon line, but from what I've heard only slightly. Still, I can definitely give you some info if you need it and would be glad to help with the cheering on when you just want to scream.
