O, insomnia, thou art a constant companion

I've redesigned my LJ. Including my Profile page (which I now ADORE - GO SEE THE PRETTY!).

I'd still like a custom graphic design, but that ain't in the cards. After four hours of searching through mintyapple, however, I found this one. Mmmmmm. Soothing.

Today I go see the neurosurgeon/orthopaedist up at Concord Orthopaedics to see what he has to say about the spinal lumbar MRI they did earlier this month. The "official" reading hasn't been given to me yet, but I did lay hands on the MRI itself and a friend was good enough to take a look at it for me.

Um, yeah, spine is borked.

So, depending on what this guy says (they are all about the HMO so god only knows, they may actually try saying, "Oh, but if you let us do more injections..." -- no, no no no no no no, ain't gonna work and ain't gonna happen, not after all this time), and how he reacts to me talking to him bluntly about things like the X-Stop being used surgically for my stenosis, and methods for fusion for the spondylolisthesis, and of course dealing with the torn/ruptured disc(s) and the cyst that's formed that is pressing on my nerves ...

... depending on what he has to say regarding ALL OF THAT, I may walk out and just go up to Dartmouth's medical center in Hanover (a long haul, but one of the best in the country) and see what their people have to say. Because this has gone on for years now, and now I'm in such bad shape that I am probably permanently disabled.

Which reminds me: I need to look into that. Disabled status. And the social security system thereof. I don't even know where to start. Anyone? Help? I fear I'm going to have to go that route, and yet I hate the idea of it as I'm far too young to be disabled, dammit.

In other news, Spike the black-and-white kitty of enormous polydactyl paws, a gentle giant of a guy, has discovered that birds nest outside my bedroom window come spring. This is his first spring here. And he has discovered his voice: he is chattering to them happily. A first for him: he is absolutely in heaven.

spine, i need a new back but it's on back order, health, cats
