would it be to terrible for you if we all wished really hard for a blizzard that trapped them all there until they had no choice but to eat each other?
I actually answer honestly, though I've had to hang up on one -- which went on for over half an hour and then they said I was "halfway through" (!) -- and on one robocall the other day that when I pressed 2 for Democrat answers, the call went on to only list Republicans I could vote for. Either broken or deliberate, I don't care, frankly.
I don't screw with them because (1) I've done cold calling, and it sucks, and (2) I've done statistical analysis and getting false information sucks. Call it my civic duty for living in NH. I try to be civil with all of them, even the moonbatcrazy ones.
Yeah, I read similar complaints by Iowans. As far as the live calls, can you suggest any particular mode of operandi for this particular Californian Obama supporter who plans to heed the heavy urging to do my part by phoning people prior to our February primary? I truly want to listen to people's views if they want to share them, apologize if they may be getting too many such calls, and offer up some of my own heartfelt enthusiasm for Obama. Overall I just want to urge them to get out there and VOTE. Do you think it's worth my time or would people prefer to be left alone during the coming month?
You are right on the button with all your response suggestions. I have done cold calling for many a campaign up here, and I can say that you can get civil responses from the most staunch arch conservatives if you say, "I encourage you to go vote, no matter who you vote for. Just vote!" I've gotten very surprised responses from that, right down to "But you're a Democrat!" as if they expected me to foam at the mouth instead of being nice and encouraging them to simply vote for their chosen candidate. I think it's entirely worth your time and you should get involved. All the campaigns need volunteers, and I've done my work for the Obama campaign, myself. I cut my teeth on campaigns many years ago, but I have to say working on the Dean campaign was invigorating and got me back into involvement in politics after getting jaded back in the 80s.
I've been involved from even before the official start of the Obama campaign, but not with phoning, which is what they need the most right now. The last time I got this involved in a particular campaign was for George McGovern in 1972, when I was 16 and too young to vote!
It would make my day to have a real human, making a real phone call, with real conversation ... call my phone.
I actually did call you Tues., and it wasn't until it was already ringing that I remembered what that day was. baron_elric said you weren't feeling well...

Some of the Republicans need a little spicing up to make them palatable, even to each other.
