Gai, of course, showed up just a bit early. He prided himself on being early and not making others wait. After all, they were important and should not have to waste their time! Happily he arrived at her house and almost knocked. Then he glanced at the window.

With a rather large up-to-no-good grin, Gai unlocked her window from outside as quietly as possible. Slowly he opened it and slid in, trying to stay silent. Perhaps if he'd checked the main room first by glancing inside he could have stayed unnoticed, but it wasn't like this was any sort of mission. Beaming, Gai waved at Fred. "Hello! Are you ready for your sort of fun, Fred?"

...hope that's ok? burntorangesky October 12 2011, 05:44:07 UTC
Fred had been intent on the journal--the reports of animals dying and leaves rotting on the branches were troubling, to say the least. She didn't know any of the people who wrote about the events happening so she wasn't planning on commenting--not right now, anyway. Perhaps later, after Gai arrived.

In any case, it was just as well she wasn't writing, as Gai coming up right next to her and talking without so much as a polite cough caused Fred to jump rather badly. Looking up with a startled expression, she gaped at him for a moment before managing to school her face into something more dignified. Shutting her journal, she smiled wryly at him, unable to be angry at the surprise. "I see you still haven't learned that it is polite to use the door, when visiting people." She was certain he'd come in the window; she would have heard the door open, if he'd come that way. Besides, this wasn't the first time he had entered that way.

For a moment Gai managed to look sheepish before grinning again. It was fun to sneak up on people, especially friends. ...And especially Fred. "I use doors! When visiting people who are just acquaintences, or Vimes or Brianna! But you are my friend!" To Gai the cheerful protest made perfect sense. "And I always use the front window; I do not enter anywhere that might be awkward!"

He held out his hand to pull her up if she wanted it. "Come, Fred! The Aquarium and dinner await us! Let us greet the evening with enthusiasm!"

She let out a low, amused laugh and shook her head. "I suppose that makes a certain amount of sense."

Rising, her smile eased into a grin as she took his hand readily. "I am very much looking forward to both."

"I am glad to make sense! And to make you laugh!" He understood that she wasn't laughing at him, and he appreciated that. It was fantastic to have good friends.

Cheerfully Gai helped her up before opening the door with a grin. "We could use the window instead of the door if you would like. But I think you would prefer the door? It is... practical, though it is not as exciting. Perhaps we could have an adventure, in small ways!"
