"I am glad that you do make me laugh, Gai. It is good to remember that not all things in this place are bad." It was also good to have friends. She wasn't at all sure how she would have survived the two years in this place without them.

She wryly cocked an eyebrow at him. "The door will do nicely, thank you, yes. There is enough excitement about this place regularly without needing to create any of our own." She slipped a hand through his arm easily, without really thinking about it. "A small adventure, though... that is certainly worth having."

"They are not." Gai gave her hand a pat. "There is much to be said for here even now. There is always hope and joy to be found anywhere you are. And where I am! For I will make sure to find it! Especially for those who are struggling to!"

Gai's smile was playful. "If you are sure." He lead her out, closing the door behind them. "Perhaps after out next run we should try entering by the window and you can see how it is fun!" They headed for the elevator with Gai beaming the whole time. "We will introduce you to the good sorts of adventure!"

She shook her head, grinning. He never gave up... "Very well. I suppose entering through the window once will not hurt anything."

She matched her pace to his as they walked toward the lift. "As you say. Just so long as it is the sort of adventure that doesn't interfere with my work and the like, I think I most likely will be able to enjoy it."

"Aha! You are right! It will not! And that is close to the spirit!" She wasn't totally enthused, but at least she was happy and willing. Sometimes that was all Gai could ask for from his friends. "I would suggest the window when we arrived back at your place, but you may be full from dinner and that could not be the best idea."

He was happy to talk with her. It was hard of late to keep track of all of the people he wanted to, but Fred was his second friend here, and his first was long since gone. "Work is a very important thing. I would not interfere with that, or with anything else that is important to you! Do not worry!"

Pushing the button for the elevator, Gai gave Fred what was supposed to be a very encouraging smile.

"Entering in that manner after exercise will be better. That way I will be limber from moving about, and will be able to get through it with more ease." She wasn't worried that she would be too tired; she had long since grown accustomed to the pace he set, and though he continued to push her limits, she tired less easily these days ( ... )
