No, not alone. He had a ship with him. And that almost counted as alone, but not quite, because ships had souls, didn't they? Somewhere in there. This wasn't the sunny little caravel he was used to, but a tiny sailboat almost too ridiculously small to even work. It shouldn't work, it didn't make any sense, but so it was. On its hull, a ram's head bobbed, its painted eye staring at Sniper, as if beseeching him to keep it afloat.
Which he would. But there were monsters in the water, he was sure of it, but he had no idea where they would come from. The water was an inky black, obscuring all shadows he would have initially looked for, and the sky above was a similar colour, all swirling clouds and bitterly cold wind. He scrubbed at his arms and patted the hull of the ship, murmuring more to himself than to it, "Don't worry, it's gonna be okay."
Except it wasn't because he was alone and he had to face the fact that he was a bit useless when he was alone and he had no idea how to steer this thing or how

Krile looked up sharply as she heard thunder rumble. As though things weren't bad enough, now she would be soaked too? Cold, wet, and alone... this didn't bode well for confronting Exdeath. She picked up the pace. If she could just reach the tip of the pier before the rain started, it would be okay.
She realized that she was scared. All right, so she had been scared since she'd started this quest with the moogle, but now there was nobody but her... if she fell, what would happen to her world? Oh and here was the rain. Was she really going to die of pneumonia first?
But her heart leapt when she saw the pitiful little sailboat coming towards her. "Hey! Hey!"" she called, waving her spear in the air like a flag. Was that guy in there familiar? Long nose, springy hair... yes. (Now her heart was jumping up and down like a little kid.) "SNIPER!"
If the voice didn't give it away, the familiar blonde ponytail bobbing on the distance certainly did. Krile? This was... weird, he knew. This wasn't right. This wasn't how this went, Krile was never around here, shouldn't be here. But she was. As the dream shifted from off of its normal path to accommodate the colliding dream, Sniper shook the feeling of unease off and began to paddle even faster than before.
When he finally reached the dock - funny how little time that took, a voice parroted in the back of his head, for wasn't it such a very long away when you first saw it? - he all but toppled out onto the deck and fasted the boat to the dock with a rope.
Still puffing from the exertion, he looked Krile up and down quickly before coming to the conclusion that she was all right. "Krile!" He cried out, voice a tad bit thinner than he would have liked it. "What are you doing here?"
"I--" Krile looked over Sniper quickly, making sure he wasn't hurt. And satisfied that he was physically okay, she immediately hurled herself at him, hugging him tightly as she could. "Exdeath. He's here. He got my friends already," she said, somehow without feeling like she would cry. Because Sniper was here, right? He could help her get them out of the Void.
Right? She couldn't feel certain. Something was very different--this ocean, she was sure it hadn't been on the map. There was supposed to be a desert on the other side of the maze.
Still, she would rather have Sniper and a bad map than an armory full of legendary weapons and nobody at all. "I should ask what you're doing here but I'm so happy you're here even if I don't know why." Oh. Now she was crying. Oh well. "I thought I was going to be all alone. I hate being alone even when I'm not fighting Exdeath."
Sniper exhaled heavily as Krile crashed into him and he wrapped his arms firmly around her, squeezing perhaps a bit tighter than he should almost to reassure himself as well. He shouldn't be happy Krile was here, because there was lots of danger around, but hot relief sank into his bones at the sheer fact that he was no longer alone. Things were just as scary, but nothing was scarier than that simple solitude of being the only figure on a vast sea. He squeezed his eyes shut, because Krile was crying, and the mere thought of it made him want to cry too
