Oh, Bastet wasn't the only one who was pissed. For once Lin had had a chance to show the woman her worth, and Crimson had gone and blown it. Of course, she couldn't be completely sure she would have won against that monster, but at least she could have tried, if she didn't have a child to protect.

But, mostly, she was angry at herself for acting so foolishly. Should've let him die. She hated Crimson, so she couldn't explain what got into her. And even admitting that maybe, maybe she didn't completely hate him-- even assuming she liked him, what did that matter? She should have let him die anyway ( ... )

Crimson shuffled between the two of them, grey eyes worriedly tracking their movements and noting the stiffness, one small hand shoving the hat back in frustration every time it fell down to block his view again. Worried, angry, upset and still frightened, his five-year old body remembered every feeling and was hardly as capable of handling it as his normal one. That, combined with his still recovering from the drain to his reiatsu, was causing his small frame to shake a little, even as he did his best to hide it as he laboriously dragged out a chair and climbed up it so that he could scramble onto the counter, finally on level with the two women, reaching out to push one cup of tea across to Lin.

And he did it abnormally silently, because what could he say except to apologize profusely? But he didn't feel right doing that in this body... They deserved a proper one.

"Stop that, Kisuke," she says, her voice mild as she continues to prepare tea for them all. "You're exhausted, you're not fooling anybody." Even though she could tell he was sincerely upset, it wasn't going to save him from her anger once he recovered.

And while Bastet understood why Lin didn't want to talk to Kisuke, she wasn't sure why she wouldn't even look at her. She'd have to do something about that, but getting information out of her was like pulling teeth sometimes, and frankly, she didn't have the patience right now.

"Both of you sit," she said, picking up the tea Kisuke had pushed across the counter and handing it to Lin. "I'll put something together for breakfast."

She turned back towards him, extending her arms to pick him up and set him back down on the floor; the movement only pulled at her wounds slightly, and wasn't much more painful than just moving about normally.

Lin watched Bastet take care of Crimson, not quite knowing what to say. She wanted to offer to make breakfast, but maybe the woman wouldn't have let her, and maybe speaking up would have only irritated her even more. For now, the safest choice seemed to be to keep quiet.

Maybe as soon as she got better and crazy things stopped happening she could do something to apologize-- for everything. For unintentionally invading her privacy over and over again, for this, for being a dead-weight in general lately.

Obediently, she stayed where she was, hoping Crimson, even small as he was, would have enough common sense to sit down and keep his mouth shut.
