Veda had few enough things, but he made sure they were all neatly put away, with the normal journal he had purchased hidden between layers of clothes. He was glad to have purchased those, at least - the newborn clothing was ill-fitting and ill-suited to the weather. For the moment, it was a simple shirt and slacks, with a pale purple sweater buttoned over it.

At the sound of the knock, he rose, and went to open the door for his unnamed guest.

Given the weather (and his recent health) he had his biggest coat on over a shoulder holster with a relatively new handgun he'd snagged just in case there were any straggling undead. He honestly didn't like having a gun on him all the time, but he was starting to feel like he needed to. At least here he didn't have to worry.

When the door opened he raised his eyebrows in time with a half nod, waving one gloved hand in greeting while the other rested casually in his pocket.

"Hey there, sorry this was so sudden. Hope it doesn't put you out at all."

Veda froze at the sight of the man in the doorway. The feeling of loss he'd had in his dream surged up again, overwhelming him with it's grief. Why here and now? Was this 'Veda'? Surely he would have said something if this was the case.

His eyes were filling with tears, though lost in the emotional rush, he didn't notice.

His easy going smile melted away immediately. This was not the reaction he expected at all.

"Hey now...." What was he supposed to do? He had been sure this meeting wouldn't be awkward, and certainly not more so than his first time meeting his brother. "Should I come back another time, or...?"

He started at the voice, snapping back to his senses. The sense of loss was still there, but he pushed it down, hid it behind a glare. Trying to wipe away the half-formed tears would be too obvious, would require explanations, so he could only hope the taller man had not noticed.

"Who are you?" His voice was harsh, angry at himself for letting his emotions gain control like that.
