Bellflower had spent the morning organizing things in Wilderness, and helping to make sure their temporary medical facilities were adequately set-up. In the midst of it, as they began to receive reports from those working on the other floors that the storm had begun in earnest, and that the winds were picking up, she realized someone was missing. Cloud. He had been there earlier, helping them with supplies, but she had not seen him in the last hour. No doubt he had returned to one of the higher floors for something, but the weather was becoming dangerous, and she felt uneasy without word of his whereabouts ( ... )

Bellflower was glad the Bazaar had been mostly empty - having to dodge around people while keeping her footing in the wind and holding on to Cloud would have been difficult. As it was, it was getting harder to keep her hold - her arms and shoulders were getting tired.

She slowed as they approached the bridge - that would be a very, very bad place to trip - and shifted hand to get a better grip on Cloud's leg. She could see the clinic though the blowing leaves and rain, which meant they were close. Only a little bit further. If she pushed herself, perhaps just maybe she could get to them both to the elevator without any problems.

She took another step along the bridge, and felt a strange shifting motion, as if trying to step up on a stair that wasn't there - and then, suddenly, the clinic was a great deal closer, looming up in front of her vision. They were practically at the front door. She stopped, blinking in surprise.

Cloud felt an odd lurch, like Bellflower had just stumbled slightly. He forced his eye open again, to see if she was alright--and then lifted his head, staring. They were already at the Clinic. He'd seen the bridge to Wellspring just a second ago... hadn't he? How had Bellflower walked this far so fast?

She couldn't have. He must have blacked out for a few minutes. Luckily, it seemed he had something of a death grip on her shoulders, since his arm was still wrapped securely around them, and Adashino was still there. The poor cat was shaking like a leaf.

"Dammit..." He let his head fall back down to her shoulder, hoping she started walking again soon. He needed medical help, a fact that was becoming glaringly obvious, and sooner would be better.

Bellflower shook her head very slightly, as if it would clear the confusion in her mind. She must have zoned out, being so intent on her goal - still, there was that odd sensation of movement...

No point in worrying over it now - she had other, bigger concerns. She picked up the pace again, heading around one side of the clinic - they had closed the place up tight earlier, so there was little point in trying to cut through, right now.

Though he kept his eye closed and his head down, the surge of adrenaline from realizing he'd blacked out kept Cloud alert for the rest of the trip. He tried to keep track of where they were, based on the time it was taking Bellflower to walk across the island, and the noises he strained to hear against the wind. When he heard the a faint change in the sound Bellflower's footsteps made, he opened his eye a little. She was starting across the bridge.

Cloud felt relief wash over him, so strong that it made him kind of dizzy again. They were almost to the elevator... just a little further, and they would be there.

The access point was in sight, now. It took all her will to make it there, rather than simply collapsing down in place right there. She made it to the elevator, though, and twisted sideways slightly to press the call button while still holding on to Cloud's leg.

Mentally, she prayed to whatever gods listened in this place that the wait would not be long - the wound on Cloud's head was worrying, and she wasn't sure how much longer she could keep from dropping him. Thankfully, though, the elevator arrived with a soft chime, doors opening on an empty car.

When Bellflower walked into the elevator and the doors slid shut, the change was noticeable. It was even a little warmer, though since Cloud's clothing was pretty much soaked through he didn't really notice that as much as he noticed the wind had stopped blowing.

His grip on her shoulders and on Adashino loosened; he was too dizzy with a combination of relief and pain to keep holding on to more than consciousness. The cat stayed where he was for now, since being trapped between Cloud and Bellflower was warmer than the floor.

The ride down to the Wilderness was mercifully short, and Bellflower was glad to see several people standing outside the elevator, ready to help anyone coming down who needed it - including one of the other medics. Edgeworth's doing, no doubt, and she made a mental note to thank the man for his foresight later.

She carefully let Cloud slip off her back, so that the other medic could grab one of Cloud's arms and slip it around his shoulder, while she got the other one. Between the two of them, they could hold him upright, and Bellflower was immensely grateful at how much lighter he seemed this way. The walk to the building serving as Medical for their stay here was undertaken in silence.

When the finally arrived, letting Cloud down onto one of the beds, Bellflower waved the other medic off with a word of thanks - she could finish what she had begun easily enough, and there was only so much that could be done for a head injury like this. She gave Cloud an appraising glance. "Cloud-san?" Best check if he was still lucid before doing ( ... )

As Bellflower let Cloud slip down off her back, Adashino jumped down. The cat crouched on the ground for a moment, then ran off, presumably to find some dry, warm place to sit in for a while. If Cloud had been in better shape, he might have made some remark about ungrateful animals. As it was he barely noticed Adashino leaving, and he really didn't have the energy to worry about it.

He concentrated on his breathing as Bellflower and the other medic held him up between them. It was something to cling to, something to keep him from passing out again, but his thoughts were getting more unfocused and he was so dizzy... his head needed to stop aching, too.

The dizziness grew worse when they laid him down on something soft--a bed?--bad enough that he very nearly did pass out. It faded almost entirely after a moment, and he opened his eye slightly. There was a ceiling above him. It looked kind of fuzzy... huh.

Oh, someone had said his name. He should probably reply. "Hmmm?"

Bellflower frowned slightly at the unfocused look in his eyes and his somewhat distant tone of voice. She began rummaging around in the boxes of supplies for what she needed as she spoke. "You've lost a fair bit of blood from that head wound - I'm going to clean it and sew it up first, so you don't lose any more."

Cloud tried to focus on her words, but he was having trouble concentrating. Rather than try harder to figure out what she was doing, he spent what energy he had left forcing himself to stay awake. The bed was comfortable, and he was very tired. Going to sleep would be an escape from the pain and exhaustion, but he had a vague idea that sleeping would be a very bad move right now.

After some time had passed he whispered, "M'thirsty..."

Bellflower glanced over at the quiet statement, almost set for supplies. "I'll get you some water when I'm finished. Now, lie flat and try to keep still - I know this is going to hurt some." As she spoke, she washed her hands in the small sink, and then poured some iodine solution out on a cotton ball.

He blinked slowly, continuing to look hazily at the ceiling. Staying still he could do--he didn't have strength left to do much moving around.

He barely noticed the sting of the iodine as Bellflower started to clean his wound. It was a gash about two inches long that stretched from just above the right side of his left eyebrow almost to his temple, relatively deep at first but getting more shallow as it went. The blood that had oozed out of it now covered the left side of his face, sticking his eye shut; some of his hair had gotten stuck to it. The wound itself had just about stopped bleeding, but the clot was messy with Cloud's hair.

The wound wasn't large, but as she cleaned away the clotted, dried blood to make sure the wound was sterile, she noticed it starting to ooze again slightly. Not entirely unsurprising, from a head wound - she was glad she had already dug out a pre-sterilized needle, already attached to it's own length of suture. It was only a few minutes' work - faster than she had expected for something she had not done very often here. But the motions seemed familiar, and soon enough, she had finished the job, and was carefully taping down a small piece of gauze so the area wouldn't get irritated.

She rose from where she was sitting at the edge of the bed, and gave Cloud a small smile. "Stay there - I'll get some water for you and then finish cleaning that blood up."

As Bellflower started to stitch up the injury it became painful enough to register in Cloud's already pain-fogged mind. A murmur of sound escaped his lips involuntarily--no words, just a noise of discomfort that edged up into a soundless whine. But he couldn't have struggled if he'd wanted to, and he settled again as she taped the bandage over her stitching.

Slightly more alert from the spike of pain, he actually managed to focus on her words. Water--she was going to bring some to him. Good. He would stay awake until she came back.

She rose, first discarding the packaging and gauze she had used for cleaning, and then disposing of the needle in one of the sharps bins, and then headed for the sink. There was a stack of disposable plastic cups, and she filled one of these and set it on the counter for a moment to wet a small wad of paper towels. She held both, and returned to sit on the edge of the bed Cloud was on, and offered him the cup. "Here."
