Since the weather had gotten so hot, she'd taken to pulling her hair into a long, fat braid that slapped against the small of her back with every step. A pair of purple shorts she'd cut from some leggings left her long legs bare, and her white tank exposed her arms--while she still got attention, it was much more subdued than it had been since that last guy had tried to grope her. Word got around, it seemed.
She grinned and waved as the two came into sight. "Yo!" she called. McQueen didn't really have much of a chance with her against Argent--loyalty ensured that, if nothing else. But hey; he didn't need to know how biased she was.
Bastet stopped in front of them with a grin of pure, arrogant challenge. "I've been looking forward to this all morning," she drawled. "So don't disappoint me."
Oh, this should be

"Bastet, my darling," he said, making his eyes very wide, "it is my pursuit in life never to disappoint you, so I do hope this proves a pleasant experience for you. If there is anything I might do to make it more pleasant, you need only ask." He gave her hand a quick squeeze and then let it go, sweeping a hand over to McQueen. "This is my compatriot and competitor, Mr. McQueen." He gave another bright smile, though this time it was teasing and secretive ( ... )

It was clear Argent was more acquainted with Bastet then he was, and it wasn't as if he hadn't noticed the notes they left each other in the journals. Rolling his eyes at Argent after Argent finished his lavish introduction, he turned to Bastet, moving between the two so Argent was blocked off.
"Hey," he smiled, "first time meeting in person, right? Wow, I have to say you are making me change my mind about this retarded competition. Seeing you I think it might actually be fun." He held out his hand to Bastet.

She almost laughed out loud at the look on McQueen's face, then did actually snicker as he moved between her and Argent. "I'm all for fun, but don't think I'm here to make it easy," she said, her grin widening as she looked up at him. Hell, everyone was so much taller than her--it was ridiculous. She shook his offered hand, her grip firm and dry. "Am I the first one?"

Though, she was getting used to it. This wasn't her first visit to the Marketplace after all. Finally, she paused--a strange sign catching her attention. What's a 'Charm-Off? Sounds kind of lame. Nonetheless, being slightly interested in what this might entail, she made her way through the crowds until she arrived at where the so-called Charm-Off was supposed to take place ( ... )

He turned to face her, his grin still glued to his face. "Hey," he said while crouching down a little, attempting as best as he could to not intimidate her.
"You've seen the signs I bet? Stupid sounding, eh? Mr. Lame-o over there put them," McQueen said pointing his thumb in Argent's direction.
With his eyes sparkling; a trick that he learned he could do, McQueen reached out his hand, "My name's McQueen. What's yours?" he said.

"Well Piece, you get to choose which person you find more charming, and the way you do that is by putting something in the that has the name of the person you choose labeled on it." McQueen pointed to the two jars, "It's just a little bet me and Argent have going, nothing serious."
McQueen sniffed the air, he could smell something delicious coming from the bag Piece was holding, "Planning on cooking something delicious? I bet you are a great cook." He smiled at her again.

While he'd met Argent and heard a little about him from Bastet (weren't they supposed to train him together? So many things to do, and so little time!), he didn't really know the guy or this McQueen character either. But the masked man figured that he might as well check it out, whatever it was. Maybe he'd be charmed, maybe he wouldn't.
Not that he had any idea what he was getting himself into as he approached their spot in the Marketplace.

"Sight, old sock," he said in a loud, friendly voice, "it is good to see you again. It has been much, much too long, and all the promises I hear of seeing you again keep seeming to evaporate." He clapped the man on the shoulder and mock-sighed. "But I hear you have been having some boisterous times, so I shall excuse you. Are you here to take part in our little event?" He twiddled his fingers in McQueen's direction to indicate who the other half of "our" was.

He would've interjected and explained the manner of his recent disappearing acts, but Argent pretty much had the ball rolling. Well, that didn't stop him from being curious about the event and exactly what it entailed. With a glance toward the other, he finally replied, "Ah, this little event, eh? Hn, what exactly is this so-called 'charm-off' that you two have set up?"

"Hey," he said interrupting the two and then paused realizing that the person Argent was speaking to was a guy, "Uh...I'm McQueen. You've come to watch I'm assuming?"
McQueen put his hands in his pockets, suddenly rather awkward, he hadn't thought of the possibility that he might have to hit on some men.

"We're still debating that," McQueen muttered, glaring at Argent's back, currently distracted by something else.
McQueen whiped some of the sweat of his neck, and peeled off a shirt he was wearing, he didn't know why he always wore some many layers. He looked back the guy, "have you come to join in the fun?"

"Throne!" he said. "It has been a great deal of fun so far. If I could only find a way to make a regular income from such things, perhaps I would not be such a layabout." He made his eyes very wide and looked at Throne with a half-pleading, half-teasing smile. "Do say you have come to join!"

Okay, so this clear-cut decision? Suddenly not so clear-cut.
"Ah, well," he then said, with a small shrug, as soon as his brain decided to play catch-up. "I just couldn't resist. You know me, G, always one for a bit of charm." He leaned forward towards Argent and mimicked his smile -- at least the teasing part. "Though I must say," he said and turned his face towards McQueen, "looks like the competition is fierce."

It had been going for four days now with no signs of stopping.
Nova's eyes cast about frantically, but instead of finding water, she spied two figures who may or may not have been bickering. Curious, Nova moved closer and smiled to see what one of them was Argent. After their conversation the other day, she'd wanted to say hello and see him again. Beside him was the other young man, and beside him was a sign. Nova blinked after reading it. So this other person ( ... )

He released her hand finally and stepped back, gesturing to McQueen, and laughing. "Are you here to participate in our little competition? It is quite straightforward. All you need do is allow us to charm you and then place a small donation in the jar of the person you found more charming. Simple, isn't it? Are you interested?"

"Yeah, I am actually," he called to Nova over Argent's shoulder, "Do you want see it up close?"
McQueen walked over beside her, "It awesome to be able to finally talk to you face to face. And it's even more awesome to finally put a face to your name, especially since you're so pretty." He smiled and his eyes sparkled.

Nova turned her smile to McQueen, who was now standing beside her, blushing slightly over the compliment. "I would, actually! Very much! To see if it's cursed! And t-thank you!" She stammered. "Very much...You're pretty too!" She blinked and waved her hands. "Umm...you know...for a man."
