Grift popped his head out from underneath the bars where he was putting the rest of the glasses away as he heard a jingle from the bar, only to come face to face with a lovely woman who he hadn't seen around before. And this woman, he would have noticed in a heartbeat.

Oh, and she was smiling! Most women who came in alone glared at him. That was to say, most women who came into a bar alone intended to be left alone for the duration of their stay. He returned the smile brightly.

"Welcome to Smoke's, miss. I'm Grift, and I'll be your..."

Holy cow. Were those real? Wow. Wow wow wow wow wow. What a doll. This was shaping up to be a good evening, indeed. With only a hitch of his breath, he continued, rather seamlessly, "...bartender tonight. What can I get for you?"

He was smooth, Spirit would give him that. Barely a missed beat, but she saw where his eyes dropped for a moment (she was pretty good at noticing things like that). It didn't bother her, though; it was no coincidence that she'd chosen her blue cocktail dress to wear, with its particular décolletage. She knew that she looked great in it, and she hadn't heard from Vlad in a while--what was the harm in seeing if she could catch someone's eye?

"I'm Spirit," she returned, her smile broadening a little. "And I'd love a vodka martini, if you would."

"Spirit," he repeated, tasting the name in his mouth. "Lovely name. It's a pleasure to meet you. And one vodka martini it is!"

He slid the bottles from off the shelf and began preparing her drink. While he shook it, placing the chilled martini glass in front of her, he searched his mind for a good conversation topic. It wasn't often he had somebody in front of him who actually seemed willing to sit and talk. "Good choice, if I may say so myself. Nice and clean."

Grift poured it into the glass and slid it in front of her and with a flourish, garnished it with an olive.

"And strong," Spirit agreed with a laugh. She saw no need to try to hide what she was here for. She smiled as Grift slid the drink in front of her and lifted it by the stem, tasting it. "That's perfect, Grift, thank you."

She sat back with the martini in hand, already feeling relaxed, and took in the bar--and its bartender--with curiosity. "Do you get a lot of business?"
