Unfortunately, the person shouting and thrashing wildly in the suffocating, gooey confines of the cocoon was most certainly not a cute girl--in fact, he wasn't any kind of girl at all.

The last thing he'd dreamt of was a mask that had grown to encompass his entire head; it now seemed to have grown even more and taken over his whole body. It was dark, and his limbs paddled slowly through the resisting goo, forcing a mild feeling of claustrophobia on him and making him more desperate to get free.

Clawing at the sides like a caged lion, he quickly tore open a large gash and found himself abruptly deposited on the floor below, along with a generous helping of the disgusting glop that had surrounded him inside.

He sat there very silently for a few moments, his one visible green eye staring blankly at the ceiling--the other being covered by a thick fall of brown hair wetly plastered to one side of his face--as he tried in vain to recall anything about where he'd just found himself.

Well, not a cute girl. Bummer. But not anyone he knew Like maybe Fullmetal... which was a plus. Sort of. At least meant his friends weren't dead as far as he knew ( ... )

The towel seemed to do the trick as far as snapping him back to reality, given that he started and whipped it right back off of his head, turning to look up at the white-haired guy before him. The space was greatly appreciated; he carefully draped the towel over his lap, turning his complete attention to the stranger when the other began to speak.

He watched the other intently, taking in the miniature lecture without so much as a single protest; if this guy knew what was going on, then he was to be paid attention to. The stranger was blunt enough about the situation that he had to believe it was the truth, and he found himself following the orders on some kind of automatic pilot.

The teenaged boy glanced down at himself, looking at all of the scars sprinkled here and there with a mix of curiosity and minor apprehension. Suddenly uncomfortable, he got to his feet and turned away, trying to give himself the illusion of privacy as he scrubbed at himself with the towel.

Figure out a name.He wasn't sure he could comply with that. He ( ... )

"Nobody, huh? I've heard weirder, I guess." Dash rose to his feet while Nobody dried off, and looked away, rocking on his heels. "Got some clothes for you, NB." He said, holding out the plain, one-size-doesn't-really-fit-anybody standard greeting clothes.

The scars had been interesting, especially on someone around his own age. Then again, he wasn't without a few himself--but not so many--and considering the things other people could do, for all he knew this guy was some kind of super ninja in his former life.

"The name's Dash. You're in a place called Edensphere. I've got here your magical talking journal--it's like an ink and paper internet, if that means anything to you." Not waiting to see if it did or not, he explained. "Anything you write in the journal can be seen in anyone else's journal and vice versa. So don't go writing your secret crushes and dirty dreams in there. I mean unless you want to share that much. But there's kids around, you know. Also, you've got three weeks to find a job--you get free room and board in the ( ... )

Nobody frowned ever so faintly at the nickname--NB?--and took the clothes from Dash, inspecting them. They didn't seem to be his. He hadn't been wearing them in the dream, and they didn't look like they would fit very well either.

Edensphere.

Obediently pulling up the baggy pants and shrugging the shirt over his head, he listened to the newest set of instructions with the same focused look as before, taking the items as they were offered and memorizing everything like the lifeline it clearly was. He would have to think about what potential skills he had later--if the dream was supposed to be a hint of sorts, it was possible he would find the answer there. The scars wouldn't have been there without reason, either.

The necessary questions were fairly obvious to him; he replied shortly after being prompted.

"What is 'the tree', the location of my room, and where do I go for food?"

Dash dumped the mentioned items--journal and allowance--into Nobody's arms. He plucked a loose piece of paper from the journal and held it up for Nobody.

"The tree is where we are. This whole place? Is a giant tree in a glass bowl. Officially Edensphere, AKA the Fishbowl." He pointed to a spot on the map. "That's the hall of beginning, where we're standing. Over here is the newbie dorms, where you will find a place to shower off that muck, new guy. They'll assign you a room and direct you to the cafeteria. The elevator--" Dash's finger moved on the map. "Will take you between levels. Residential, Market, Scavenger's Yard and Wilderness. Try not to go down to the Wilderness without a buddy, people get lost. My official job is usually exploring down there, finding lost people, escorting people who want to go down, so I know what I'm talking about. Even if you have the best sense of direction ever, if you go alone the elevator's liable to disappear on you ( ... )
