"I go by Drake." The one thing nobody would ever pry out of Drake was his real name. He knew it -- unlike the vast majority of denizens of the Sphere -- but he never gave it out. The number of people who knew and used it could be counted on one hand with fingers left over. Real names were a rarity here, given the general malaise of amnesia.

"You could say that." He shifted again, looking ever so slightly more relaxed. "Captain of the Guard." As such, possibly the only person in Edensphere with any kind of an authority title. You had to love places with utopian setups...even though this was really more a dystopia than anything else.

"Did you come alone, or is there a wave of would-be explorers following you?" His tone remained bland, seemingly uninterested and unthreatened. He did that a lot, though.

Another flaw appeared in Light's hastily-cobbled-together plan. Had he actually taken time to bring Misa with him, she might have been able to use her Shinigami eyes. No matter. He'd worked around that handicap before, he could do it again.

"Well, then, Captain," he said, lowering his hands and extending a single one for a handshake. "I suppose I'm alone for the time being. It appears that no one has decided to follow me. It was a bit unusual to have a giant tree appear in the middle of the beach. They could have been scared off."

Despite the extra room in their new home, the air of grief became oppressive after a while, so Bastet had left for the Park to train for an hour or two. While there, she'd seen the branch wind its way down to the Park, and had decided to go investigate.

She hadn't expected to find Drake addressing a young man about his own age; he held his hands in the air, presumably to show he was no threat.

Hell. There were people coming from the island? As if the people here weren't trouble enough at times.

Slipping from behind a tree, she would seem to have appeared out of nowhere to the average eye; a small woman with dark skin and hair, and large golden eyes. While she was unarmed, any fighter worth the name would be able to recognize she moved with the assurance of a skilled warrior.

"Yo, kiddo," she called as she approached, moving toward Drake's side. "You came to see this too, huh?" Her manner seemed casual, but her eyes flicked back towards the branch for any sign of further visitors.

"Human nature being what it is, I don't doubt there will be more. I suppose you do get the benefit of seeing the Sphere first." Drake's expression changed not one little bit. Still flat, still betraying nothing. He did, however, shake Light's hand; his grip was firm but measured, as if he was holding his strength in check. Might not be big, but he was a powerhouse.

As he was dropping his hand Bastet appeared; he glanced briefly to the side and inclined his head in greeting. "My job, B," he answered, lifting one shoulder and dropping it in a casual shrug. "I'm sure there will be more." So now there were two of them, the guard captain and the littlest Amazon. Quite the welcoming party, all told.

Knowing Haruhi, she shouldn't be far behind, provided she hadn't been stalled trying to recruit more people to her organization. Light didn't mind being all alone, especially since it seemed he didn't have much to fear from Drake's weapon.

It was then that they were joined by a tanned woman who had snuck up on them. B, Drake had called her. There was a part of Light who had long ago stopped trusting individuals who only went by a single letter. It was fairly easy to determine that no one around here used their real names. Perhaps there was a reason that everyone had a codename.

"Nothing wrong with being first," he said, giving a genial smile.
