Dun Dun Dunnnn.... ttlynotkira January 12 2009, 06:19:43 UTC
Once he got the hang of walking on the tree itself and getting his sense of balance to stop going haywire, traveling along the trunk was fairly simple. Light looked for footing via the tiny branches on the way down until his feet touched solid ground.

There wasn't much to look at on the other side of the rift. He was standing in a large, empty, open space and not a soul was around. It looked as though the rest of the explorers hadn't made it to this side yet, either.

Perfect. As his eyes darted around, he allowed himself a small smile. If powers worked in this place, he wouldn't mind staying for a while.

HERE RIVE HAVE A DRAKE. distant_dragon January 12 2009, 07:02:36 UTC
No time to cry, never time to cry. The price you paid for a position of command.

Drake was still coping with the whole I-just-lost-my-two-best-friends issue, and in all brutal honesty he was only holding up about half as well as he looked. He had other good friends to help out, and that had been the best medicine anyone could ask for. Stupid fucking Sphere, taking all willy-nilly; the problem with doing that was you turned more people against you. The Sphere did NOT want Drake turning against it. Not in a million years.

If 'years' existed here.

He knew all about Twenty's endeavor, knew just what the island was. The second his odd entry had appeared he'd known what was going on; when Raise ducked out for work and Sky had to head back to his place he'd gotten up, grabbed his sword and his journal, and headed straight for the Park. He'd made a rough calculation and figured that the strange bridgelike branch thing would probably touch down thereabouts. As it happened, he was right. And so it was that whoever came down from the ( ... )

Immediately, Light knew his initial calculation was off. A young man appeared before him, hand on a blade and looking none-too-friendly.

Hmm.

Keeping his face impassive, Light raised both hands in the air. It was almost cliche to say somthing like he 'came in peace,' but he couldn't just stand there silent. Haruhi and the others were still taking their sweet time, but that could be a good thing. It meant that Light was the only outsider at the moment, and able to influence the opinions of the natives here.

Hands still in the air, he remained where he was. "I don't mean any harm," he said, keeping his eyes on the weapon.

There was no way for Light to know this but Drake wasn't ever really reassured by people holding their hands in the air. After all, he could fling lightning bolts around with a thought; who's to say someone else might not be able to? Better safe than sorry. His weight was balanced on his toes just barely enough that he would be able to spring out of range if need be, but it wouldn't be at all apparent to the casual observer ( ... )

This man was still tense, ready to leap into action at a moment's notice. Light filed away the name of the place for future knowledge. Edensphere.

"Yagami Light," he said honestly. "And you?" There was a pen and a tiny strip of paper taken from the Note in his pocket... just in case.

"Fair enough," Light said in reply to the comment about his business. "I am to assume that you live here?"
