Maybe I do have a tapeworm, he thought bitterly as he wandered aimlessly up a row of stores, not really looking at anything. It would seems almost tame, though, he figured, that after all the things the Sphere had put them through. Undead tapeworm then. Zombie tapeworm. That would even be thematically appropriate.
In the hopes of trying to distract himself for long enough to actually let Throne come back, he veered into the first store he came to that seemed vaguely interesting, ie. the first one not filled with clothes. It was one of those big, arguably overly big, bookstores that seemed to be at least half-devoted to things that weren't books. Which was honestly fine by Want who felt he already spent more than enough time staring at printed words every day ( ... )

"Room Service!" He called, voice falsely bright as he adjusted, shifting from one foot to the other in slight agitation, slight nervous energy.
He'd been keeping everything pretty much at arm's length since Ran died. Put on a bright face, banter a bit, pretend everything was okay. Pretend you aren't freaking out. It had practically been his mantra while Throne and Want remained missing for weeks, and weird things piled on top of more weird things.
Having them back though, it was a huge relief. It was one thing to know Drake had Want's journal, to know Want and probably Throne were both alive, somewhere. But it was kind of totally different to see them writing. Safe.
And he didn't want to freak out at them, because by all accounts they hadn't meant to go and get all lost, but he was still sort of tense. Relieved as hell, but tense. Awkward feeling.
Mostly Dash was just glad they were okay. And back. Not ( ... )

He'd also forgotten how bad late night television could get, though, and that was a bit of amnesia that he was now hoping would return ( ... )

The sense of relief he got, seeing Want, was surprisingly overwhelming. A feeling of thank god. And a moment later the realization that he was staring like a deer in the headlights and otherwise being a total dork caught up to him, and he sort of thrust the pizza box in front of him and grinned a little cheekily as Want relieved him of some of the load.
"Must have been my clone senses tingling." Dash declared, smirking as he stepped into the room and shut the door with his foot. "Hey, nice suit. You guys living the high life, eh?"
Even though the suit was pretty impressive, Dash kept looking back at Want, not really able to look away. It'd been a rough month. It was good to see his twin/clone/whatever alive and healthy ( ... )

There'd been a list, of course, several in fact, which they'd spent their first few days in Vegas compiling -- during those long stretches they spent in bed, picking at room service and working their way through carton after carton of ice cream. The list in particular Throne was referring to outlined "Things that Must Be Done in Vegas". Spending a night getting trashed, very loudly and in public, with the possibility of very lewd consequences was number 12.
"Anyways," Throne said very firmly tilting his head back once and nodding, "what is the point of making lists if we're going to ignore them?" Walking backwards into the brightly lit space with its cherry red walls and blue glass bar, Throne very ocassionally glanced behind ( ... )

But despite any and all outward complaints, Want wasn't totally dreading fulfilling Item #12 on their list. At least, he wasn't now that he saw the place. It wasn't really bad. They'd past over a lot of really, really sketchy looking places, enough that Want was starting to think that they should amend #12 to getting drunk in private, with the possibility of lewd consequences, but then they'd stumbled on this place and, yeah, it wasn't bad. Just upscale enough that Want didn't feel like he was at risk of catching Hep-C just from breathing the air, but still enough of a dive that he didn't have to worry about breaking anything.
He was just getting comfortable enough to start worrying about the fact that he had no idea what he liked to ( ... )

Paintball had made it almost impossible to go around normally without constantly being on the defensive. So she'd decided to test out her newly discovered form, figuring she'd be able to go if not unnoticed, then at least not bothered by her opponents. Most people knew better than to try to pet a strange cat. Those who didn't reconsidered after a hiss and swipe.
After dozing on and off in the sunlight, she heard a couple of familiar voices approaching. Her mood brightened as she opened her eyes to see Throne and Want walking towards her. She sat up on her haunches and meowed imperiously, hoping to catch their attention.
Yeah, she could just call out to them. But whatever--this would be more fun.
