It's just so sad, he was such a talented actor who had a bright future ahead of him. I just recently watched 'The Never-Ending Story' with him, remembering how much I loved him back then too, and I kept tearing up throughout the entire movie. You're right, it's so sad that there is such a stigma against depression and mental illness -- I think especially for men, as our society tells them that expressing any emotion and feelings means they're 'weak' or 'not manly enough' -- that so many people don't get the help they desperately need.
It's hard for me to think of Jonathan without thinking of my cousin, who passed long before his time because of the same reason. There were people in his life who knew he needed help but no one would say anything to us, his family, so we are left blindsided with just a feeling of 'what if'. Too many people die because of depression, celebrity and non-celebrity, and it's time it stops.
