Sorting through the Yuletide tagset to figure out what I am comfortable offering (and what I might want to request beyond the three fandoms I personally nominated) always takes about ten times longer than I expect when I start the process. What can I say; I like to be thorough

I think you could potentially wait until the day before signups close to decide on TDIR, by checking out if anyone's posted letters asking for Merriman as the main character, and only Merriman?

Aha! Yes, that would work -- so long as I make sure I list the fandom separately and not as part of a bucker offer. I mean, it's not a perfect solution, since some people don't write letters or just don't post them to the community to get put on the spreadsheet, but it's a lot better than complete uncertainty. :)
