Happy New Year? Hah!

Er, hi there ... I know, it's been a while, but some of you might remember me, I guess. I'm afraid I almost certainly won't be providing a major update on what's been going on since last I wrote, on account of I suspect that would simply mean another year of not posting anything at all. Long time no see! Hope you are well.
My wife had got and fought off covid twice, while I continue to not get sick from it. (We've both been vaccinated.)

Well, hey there! ed_rex January 21 2022, 19:32:45 UTC
Nice to hear from you again, Paul, and to read something from you someplace besides Analog!

I'm happy to report that we seem to have fully recovered without any long-term repercussions (though with long term anything, a couple of weeks later is too soon to call anything with confidence).

I'm glad your wife recovered (twice!), and impressed that you didn't get sick. I know my 87 year-old dad was exposed (since we visited the day before I started to feel sick), but he too has not suffered from any symptoms.

Meanwhile, I've got an appointment for my booster this coming Friday. And life goes on ...

WOW. You have a kid now, not a baby! I can't believe how big she is, but then I think the same thing about Phoenix and Anna all the time too.

Glad y'all bounced back from COVID. Nick's aunt passed away from it a couple weeks ago, our only family loss in 2+ years of the pandemic. She had several underlying health conditions but of course it was sad and Nick was pretty shaken up about it.

I know, right! Just yesterday we went out for a walk and ended up a local park. She decided she wanted to swing and - to my amazement - her arms are now long enough for the big kids swing! (If only just.)

I'm sorry to learn about Nick's aunt. Underlying health conditions don't make people expendable, no matter what our governments have to say about that.
