She'd seen him from across the commons earlier, and it had struck Mercury that she'd never before noticed that Pharaun was handsome.

That was wrong. The Dark Kingdom senshi had noticed it, but she was used to the presence of handsome men, and it had never occurred to her that the drow stood out at all. Which was very foolish, really. She should notice everything.

She noticed she wanted to see him again.

Not one to see many reasons to delay the seizing of her desires, Mercury made her way to Ast-Pente, where she let herself in - not bothering with the expedient of knocking.

Pharaun was cleaning. He looked almost amusing among the clutter and general untidiness; a tiny part of the Jyuuban genius' mind thought to wonder how he ever managed to study effectively. A moment's consideration assured her the concern was not entirely irrelevant, as the mage would regularly study his spells, surely.

"It goes better if you work out a system beforehand," she announced her presence.

Pharaun looked up distractedly when he heard her footsteps approaching. "Oh, hello Mercury." When he registered her suggestion, he shrugged. "I've tried that once or twice. The improvement's never seemed to be worth the effort, honestly."

No, handsome wasn't the word after all, she decided. Mercury stole a long enough second look for words like 'sensual' to come to mind. The perfectly coiffed hair, his carriage, something about that twist to his mouth - no, lips.

She looked away. That was... a ridiculous thing to be thinking about!

Caught by surprise in the thought and its attendant emotion, Mercury's mind quickly resembled the messy piles and scattered litter present in the room. To cover it, she issued a brief order: "Why don't you go sit down over there?"

And suddenly, Mercury was tidying up.

The glance didn't escape Pharaun's notice, but he assumed it was a normal making-sure-the-drow-isn't-plotting-my-demise look. He was much more surprised to be instructed to sit down and have Mercury clean up - in fact, he was astonished enough to obey the order without thinking. I am spending entirely too much time in this place dumbfounded, he decided.
